Virdee – Season 1 Episode 3 1

DS Khalil Amin (Danyal Ismail) queries Harry if the incident bore the hallmarks of a hate crime. Harry responds by suggesting it was more calculated, with clues etched into Priti Parmar’s (Sarah Pearson) person. This revelation prompts them to examine Tyrone Graves's body, discovered in a nearby tent, where they uncover a key fob to a local apartment complex lodged in the victim's throat.

At the complex, the team deciphers that the key opens the door to flat 716. Upon entering, the scene that greets them is revolting – a bed crawling with what resemble maggots. Harry also notices a paused video, indicating that the occupant had left just 12 minutes prior. Their investigation is abruptly halted by nearby gunshots, leading them to two wounded officers. Despite the shooter's escape, DS Clare Conway (Elizabeth Berrington) reassures Khalil and Harry that the officers' injuries are non-life-threatening. She further alleviates Khalil's concerns about Professional Standards scrutinizing his actions, as he had fired at the fleeing van.

Just as they converse, the team discovers a chilling message revealed under UV light – "Parasite," inscribed all over the apartment. The apartment’s ownership is soon traced back to Alastair Boardman (Jack Archer). The tension mounts, painting a grim picture of an unseen adversary lurking in the shadows.Riaz returns to the comfort of his home, eager to unravel the events of the club night with his beloved partner. She, too, speculates that Vasil might be behind it all, but Riaz reassures her of her safety, emphasizing that her involvement remains concealed from everyone. He whispers to her that perhaps this predicament presents the golden opportunity they have long awaited to neutralize Vasil. She nods in silent accord.

Back at headquarters, Conway delves into a detailed profile on Alastair, only to be interrupted midway through her presentation. Seizing the moment, Harry steps in to continue the narrative. Meanwhile, Tara Virdee-Duggal (Nina Singh) meticulously watches a recording captured at the club on her smartphone, swiftly uploading it for further scrutiny. Given Alastair's illustrious lineage as the son of Chief Constable Jonathan Boardman (Silas Carson), the UKCA makes a swift move to seize control of the investigation. DS Rebecca Armitage (Elaine Tan) firmly believes this attack is a bold assault on the Chief Constable's dignity. Despite Conway's attempts to resist, the UKCA ultimately prevails, taking charge of the case. As they depart, Conway sternly informs Khalil and Harry that their resolve remains unbroken. This catalyst propels Khalil to present the entomology report regarding the wasp, suspected to have origins in Asia. Conway instructs them to reach out to the Animal and Plant Health Agency, seeking any records of import licenses for such wasps.

Harry pays a visit to Saima Hyatt (Aysha Kala) at the hospital, offering heartfelt apologies for the previous night's happenings. However, their conversation is abruptly cut short by Saima's pager blaring. As Harry escorts her back inside, Ranjit Virdee (Kulvinder Ghir) catches a glimpse of their fleeting kiss, unnoticed by the pair. Later, during her visit to Ranjit's hospital room, Saima discovers to her surprise that he is aware of her identity.

After completing his training session, Riaz confides in Enzo Tobin (Tomi May), vowing that the club incident will not go unpunished. After bidding Riaz farewell, Enzo is approached by Ateeq Farooqi (Yousef Naseer), who expresses a genuine desire to become part of Bradford West. Enzo initially brushes him off as insignificant until Ateeq reveals he possesses valuable intelligence that could significantly aid in dismantling Vasil's crew.Tara crafts a compelling video, pleading for insights into the brutal attack that unfolded at the nightclub. Her plea resonates, eliciting a response from an eyewitness who disclosed glimpsing an eerie figure donned in a gas mask. This individual, intriguingly, concludes their message with an invitation for Tara to meet. Meanwhile, Constable Jonathan storms into the precinct, eager to confer with Harry regarding his son's abduction. His subsequent encounter with the press escalates into a fervent outpouring of emotion, prompting Armitage to intervene and seize control of the situation. During her address, a video of Alastair emerges, further compounding the tension. Jonathan makes his stance unmistakable—he insists that Harry spearhead the investigation.

Harry obliges, unveiling the perpetrator's macabre method of using parasites to infiltrate human hosts. He then presents Jonathan with the enigmatic messages sourced from the apartment, weaving through various plausible interpretations of their meaning. Elsewhere, Ateeq convenes with Enzo, detailing the intricate logistics behind Vasil's illicit funds. Their conversation, however, is unwittingly overheard by Riaz, who pretends ignorance when Saima and Aaron Hyatt-Virdee (played by Wissam Naseer) unexpectedly arrives. Saima catches a glimpse of Ateeq departing, yet Riaz maintains an innocent demeanor. He distracts Aaron with a toy, ushering him into his office where, amidst the play, Riaz discovers a suspicious device resembling a phone or remote control, secretly hiding it in his coat.

Conway informs Harry that the UKCA has pinpointed 38 criminals previously incarcerated by Jonathan, seeking their assistance in reviewing these cases. Additionally, corroborating testimonies from witnesses align with Harry's account of the gas-masked individual perched on the club's balcony, much to Conway's consternation. Ignoring Conway's advice, Harry rushes to the hospital to cross-check these accounts with the witnesses firsthand.

Jyoti Virdee (portrayed by Sudha Bhuchar) graces Saima and Aaron's home with her presence, extending an apology for the predicament she inadvertently placed Saima in. Saima, with unwavering grace, assures Jyoti that her apologies are misdirected. Saima warmly invites Jyoti to stay, but Jyoti, citing hospital duties, declines. As a token of her affection, Saima gifts Jyoti a photograph of Aaron.Tara's girlfriend endeavors to persuade her into accompanying her to meet Peyvan, but Tara deceitfully claims that Harry will be joining her instead. Meanwhile, Harry and Khalil encounter no fortune at the hospital. Bidding farewell to Khalil, Harry trails Jyoti to Ranjit's room. Elsewhere, Tara is abducted and momentarily awakens in what seems to be a peculiar laboratory, where her captor is inking a tattoo onto her skin.

Returning home, Harry engages in a conversation with Saima about visiting his father at the hospital. His frustration intensifies upon discovering that Jyoti had earlier paid a visit to their house. Their dispute is cut short when a package that had arrived earlier begins to vibrate. Inside, they find a phone playing a video of Alastair. The assailant instructs Harry to switch off both his and Saima's phones, tossing them to the ground. He then orders Harry to escort his family to the car and drive them to the police station. Subsequent to that, he directs Harry to a building and tells him to enter.

Upon arriving at the building, Harry is startled to find Alastair suspended upside down in a human-sized sack, hovering above a pool of water. The assailant presents Harry with an ultimatum: either stop him or save Alastair. Harry opts to leap over Alastair, leaving the episode on a cliffhanger.
