As the official parents' weekend dawns at the esteemed institution, parents flock in to spend quality time with their offspring. The Addams family is no exception, though Morticia frets over Wednesday's apparent lack of enthusiasm towards their reunion.

During the school assembly, the principal updates the parents and students on Eugene's condition, reassuring them of his steady recovery. Enid inquiries about Wednesday's visit to Eugene, to which she responds with a note of guilt for the unfortunate incident. Enid, too, dreads her mother's critical gaze, as she hasn't yet transformed into a wolf. Both Wednesday and Enid pray for a swift end to the enforced familial camaraderie.

Wednesday – Season 1 Episode 5 1

Xavier's absentee father and Bianca's overbearing mother add to the weekend's woes. Bianca's mother demands that she return home to assist in her schemes of exploiting people with their supernatural abilities.

Concerned about Wednesday's recent behavioral issues, the principal summons her parents for a meeting. She candidly shares that their daughter's stay at Nevermore has been tumultuous and suggests a family therapy session with Dr. Kinbott. Morticia balks at the idea, but Gomez readily agrees.

As they drive into town for the therapy session, the sheriff, harboring suspicions of Gomez's innocence, spots them. Tyler defends Gomez's willingness to attend therapy, sparking a heated argument with the sheriff. The sheriff's refusal to participate in a therapy session with Tyler further strains their relationship. As he exits the cafe, the sheriff receives a call informing him of the coroner's suicide.

At the coroner's office, investigators stumble upon a suicide note confessing the doctor's guilt for falsifying a coroner's report in an old case. The sheriff rejoices upon learning that the fake report pertains to the Garrett Gates case, believing it will finally secure Gomez's conviction. Armed with this new evidence, he rushes to Nevermore and arrests Gomez.

On a fateful Wednesday, Wednesday strides to visit her father in the confinement cell, seeking clarity. Her father confesses that, as youths, Garret was infatuated with Morticia. On that fateful night, he found Gomez kissing Morticia, and in a fit of rage, he assaulted Gomez, ultimately leading to his accidental death. Wednesday, however, is not easily convinced, recognizing her father's familiar signs of deceit.

She confronts the sheriff, urging him to see through the haze of coincidence surrounding the case against her father. Wednesday believes this to be a diversion, hindering her investigation into the mysterious monster. The sheriff, however, sees it as delayed justice, lamenting the absence of the Gates' family members to witness this moment.

Wednesday inquiries about the family's fate, and the sheriff reveals their tragic endings: the mother took her own life, the father drowned in his sorrow, and the sister perished overseas. Wednesday confronts her mother, demanding to know why she sent her to a school where she could only exist in her shadow. She also presses for the truth about Garrett's demise.

Morticia confesses that in a bid to save Gomez, she unintentionally stabbed Garrett. As the story unfolds, Wednesday realizes that Garrett might have been acting irrationally due to poison. They decide to exhume his grave, and indeed, traces of poison are discovered in his body. But before they can alert the authorities, they are apprehended.

In the confinement cell, Gomez and Morticia are reunited, and Wednesday has a vision, revealing Garrett's fate. His father had given him nightshade poison, intended to kill the students at Nevermore, but during his altercation with Gomez, the vial broke, and the poison seeped into his body.

The following morning, armed with this revelation and evidence, Wednesday and Morticia confront the mayor. They threaten to expose his involvement in the cover-up unless he drops the charges against Gomez. The mayor has no choice but to comply, and Gomez is released. The sheriff offers his apologies to Gomez.

With the matter resolved, Morticia inquires about Wednesday's visions and assures her of her unwavering support. Wednesday begs her mother to teach her how to control her powers, but Morticia reveals that only the deceased from their bloodline can guide her. Wednesday mentions Goody, and Morticia warns her to be cautious, as Goody was a vengeful and powerful witch.

As the family weekend draws to a close, Enid finds the courage to tell her mother that she will not attend the conversion camps suggested by her. She stands firm in her decision, hoping that her mother will accept her despite her choice. Her father is proud of her and encourages her to follow her heart, but her mother is disappointed.

Morticia encourages Wednesday to confide in her more, desiring to bridge the gap between them. She leaves Wednesday with her old yearbook, and Wednesday discovers that the principal is a shapeshifter. She confronts the principal, confirming her suspicion that Rowan is dead and Larissa has been pretending to be him.

Wednesday threatens to go to the sheriff, but the principal stops her, warning that Rowan's father will support her. She further cautions that revealing the truth to the sheriff would spell the end of Nevermore. As they argue, a commotion erupts outside; someone has left a burning message on the school's lawn, ominously proclaiming, "Fire will rain."
