Wednesday – Season 1 Episode 4

Published: Jul 03 2024

Episode 4 of Wednesday kicks off with her stealthy infiltration of the County coroner's office, aided by her mysterious companion, Thing. Her mission: to delve deeper into the monster's victims and scrutinize the remains of the latest casualty. However, her investigative efforts are abruptly halted by the unexpected return of the coroner and sheriff. Wednesday quickly ducks into one of the morgue's cabinets, eavesdropping on their conversation. She learns that the killer is collecting grisly trophies from his victims, a revelation that the sheriff insists must remain secret. The coroner, eager to retire from his final case, eagerly agrees.

The following morning, Wednesday shares her shocking discoveries with Edin, who faints upon seeing the grotesque crime scene photographs. Later in class, Wednesday finds Xavier's neck wounds peculiar, but he dismisses her concerns, claiming he merely strained his neck while fencing. Unconvinced, Wednesday keeps a watchful eye on him, eventually uncovering his secret painting studio hidden within the school grounds. Sneaking inside, she stumbles upon drawings of the monster and promptly snatches one, fleeing the scene.

Xavier catches her before she escapes and demands to know her motives. She retaliates with the same question, and he reveals it's his private art sanctuary, refusing to give her a guided tour. Unable to justify her presence, Wednesday invites him to the upcoming Rave N dance as a means to diffuse the situation. Xavier accepts eagerly, assuming she's taken a liking to him.

Edin, elated that Wednesday has changed her mind, proposes a dress shopping spree. But Wednesday has other plans, uninterested in such trivial pursuits. While in town, she visits the sheriff, persuading him to join her on a walk. Initially hesitant, the sheriff agrees under the relentless pressure of the Mayor's incessant updates and Wednesday's convincing arguments. He requests she bring him some evidence, hinting at a potential collaboration to identify a suspect.

Meanwhile, Edin, left to her own devices, encounters Lucas Walker, the Mayor's son and one of the notorious trio of troublemakers. He tricks her into taking him to the dance, claiming he wants to make an ex jealous. Ecstatic, Edin sees this as a perfect opportunity to make Ajax jealous, still under the impression that he ghosted her.

As Wednesday exits the station, she encounters Tyler, who eagerly begs her to invite him to the dance. Disappointed to learn she's bringing Xavier, he misinterprets their relationship, unaware that she sees him as merely a distraction when she first broke into Xavier's studio. Wednesday presents the sheriff with the claw and Xavier's DNA sample, urging him to conduct a DNA test.

With her dance partner suddenly silent, Wednesday turns to Eugene, pleading with him to accompany her on a stakeout to uncover the monster's hideout and reveal its identity. However, her plans for a thrilling night of mystery and intrigue are abruptly shattered by Tyler's unexpected arrival, dressed impeccably and ready to be her companion for the evening. Thing, mischievous as ever, had pulled a fast one, sending Tyler a charming note, falsely attributed to Wednesday, inviting him to the dance. He had even gone the extra mile, purchasing the dress that had caught her eye.

Wednesday's dismayed plea to Eugene to postpone their plans and reschedule for the following night fell on deaf ears. Ignoring her warnings, he set out alone.

At the dance, Xavier's mood darkened upon seeing Tyler and Wednesday together, and he resorted to desperation, asking Bianca to use her siren-like powers to distract him from Wednesday's charms. Bianca, rightfully offended, refused and left. Despite Xavier's past bullying of Tyler, Wednesday and Tyler enjoyed each other's company thoroughly.

Meanwhile, Lucas began to realize that he had more in common with Enid than he had imagined. However, his ulterior motive for attending the party soon came to light, as he and his friends unleashed a spray of red paint on the unsuspecting students at the party's conclusion.

Enid's heart sank when she realized that Lucas had only used her for his own gain, but the situation unexpectedly presented her with an opportunity to clear the air with Ajax. Their kisses and tender words healed the rift between them.

As the chaos unfolded and students scrambled to escape the paint-spattered chaos, Wednesday had a vision of Eugene being assaulted by the monster. She hastened to the woods, but she arrived too late. The monster had vanished, leaving Eugene barely clinging to life.
