Wednesday guides her uncle to the Beehouse, a secluded corner in the school, where they can weather the storm together. Fester, eager to assist in her investigation, divulges the name of the monstrous creature: a Hyde. He speaks of an ancient diary hidden in the secret chamber of the Nightshades, once belonging to a wanderer named Faulkner, who chronicled the outcasts of society.

Wednesday – Season 1 Episode 7 1

After the burial, Enid sneaks into the room to retrieve her belongings, but her true intentions are to spy on Wednesday. Unfortunately, their encounter once again leads to a heated argument, and Enid leaves in a huff.

In the dead of night, Wednesday ventures into the secret chamber of the Nightshades and encounters Xavier. A tense confrontation arises as Xavier accuses her of mistreatment, arguing that she fails to recognize his unwavering loyalty and countless rescues. He challenges her suspicions, questioning why she suspects him of being the monster and pointing out that his sketches bear no resemblance to the creature. He further questions why she believes he hasn't harmed her if she truly thinks he's the perpetrator, suggesting perhaps it's because he harbors feelings for her.

With Xavier's departure, Fester reveals the diary to Wednesday. She takes the tome and learns that Hydes are artistic beings born of mutation, their monstrous nature lying dormant until unleashed by trauma, chemical manipulation, or hypnotic trance. The one who unleashes the Hyde becomes its master, and Wednesday realizes she's hunting for two killers: the monster and its puppeteer.

The following morning, Wednesday shadows Xavier, convinced he's the Hyde. Together with Fester, they tail him as he meets with Dr. Kinbott in the woods. Assuming Dr. Kinbott is the mastermind, Wednesday rushes to inform the principal but is startled to find the therapist in the principal's office. She refrains from spilling the beans.

Wednesday visits the cafe and shares the diary's revelations with Tyler. His father, oblivious to their conversation, is busy hunting for Fester, implicated in a bank robbery. After the sheriff's departure, Tyler invites Wednesday on a date, refusing to accept a refusal. Knowing the school is on lockdown, he promises to visit her and plans a rendezvous at the Crackstone's crypt.

At the crypt, Wednesday and Tyler enjoy a sweet and romantic evening, until the police interrupt their moment, searching for Fester. Wednesday returns to her room, horrified to find the diary missing and Thing stabbed. She rushes him to Fester's hideout for resuscitation. Miraculously, after several attempts, he stabilizes. Wednesday vows vengeance against the perpetrator, and asks Fester to leave the school grounds the following day as the police close in.

On Wednesday, Ms. Thornhill updated Larissa about the unsettling intrusion into her quarters. Larissa's displeasure was palpable when she learned that the diary had vanished. Wednesday, perplexed, inquired why Larissa had never disclosed the monster's true identity. Larissa, her voice laden with concern, explained that she had been striving to safeguard the school and its storied past. She then pressed Wednesday, inquiring if she suspected anyone. Wednesday, sensing a lack of trust, turned on her heel and walked away.

The following day, Bianca approached Wednesday with a revelation: information regarding the mayor's murderer. She revealed that Lucas had stumbled upon crucial details on his father's laptop, suggesting that his father had recognized Laurel and was poised to expose her before she silenced him.

Wednesday, determined to confront the culprit, set her sights on Dr. Kinbott, whom she believed to be the mastermind behind the Hyde. However, the therapist was bewildered by Wednesday's accusations, assuming that she had finally lost her mind. As Wednesday departed, Dr. Kinbott dialed the principal to complain about her strange behavior. Unexpectedly, mid-conversation, the monster struck, ending Dr. Kinbott's life.

Wednesday, resolved to bring an end to this nightmare, ventured to Xavier's clandestine art studio. She planted the evidence she had gathered, and Xavier was promptly arrested. He protested his innocence, claiming he was being framed, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. The case was deemed closed.

That evening, Enid and Wednesday reconciled, and Wednesday returned to their old room. They chatted about Wednesday's date with Tyler, and Enid suggested a visit to the cafe where he worked. Tyler was working a late shift, and Wednesday thought it was a splendid idea.

At the cafe, Wednesday confessed to Tyler that the incident with Xavier had left her questioning who she could trust. As they finally shared a tender kiss, Wednesday was struck by a terrifying vision: Tyler, transformed into the monster, murdering Dr. Kinbott. She fled the cafe in a state of panic, leaving Tyler bewildered and perplexed.
