Meanwhile, Faith finds herself amidst the court's hustle and bustle, discreetly administering her insulin in the ladies' room. Suddenly, gunshots shatter the tranquility, sending Faith scrambling to reassure Bonnie, the elderly woman accompanying her, before rushing out to ascertain the commotion.
Elsewhere, Trent is at the supermarket with Nico, engaging in mundane grocery shopping. An impromptu conversation with a fellow patron diverts his attention to a surprising revelation: Nico has secretly opened a social media account for Betty, Trent's beloved dog. However, before he can reprimand Nico, a phone call urgently summons him to the courthouse amidst the shooting spree.
Upon arriving, Trent discovers Ormewood already present, his characteristic agitation heightened at seeing Trent back in the thick of his case. Officer O'Hara, Andrew's former partner, is also there, his eagerness palpable to see Sam back behind bars and standing trial.

They switch vehicles, leaving the police a half-hour behind in their pursuit. Officer O'Hara assumes command of the situation, which irritates Amanda, who fears for Faith's safety amidst the trigger-happy law enforcement officers in the manhunt.
Ormewood, another policeman closely affiliated with Andrew, is eager to apprehend Sam swiftly. While Ormewood and Angie are conducting surveillance on an unrelated case, Angie unexpectedly catches sight of her former foster father—a beast who once raped her, a truth she keeps concealed from Ormewood.
Switching focus to Faith, Sam brings her to a friend's residence, endeavoring to persuade her of his innocence in Andrew's demise. He harbors hope that his friend, who served as his alibi during the murder, will vouch for his clearance. Upon entering the house, they discover Sam's friend already wounded, apparently targeted by someone before they arrived. Concurrently, Sam and Faith arrive at a secluded cabin, where Faith promptly handcuffs Sam. As Sam reminisces about their initial encounter and engages in idle chatter, Faith decides that a relaxing bath is in order after such a long and harrowing day. Seizing the moment, Sam attempts to make a daring escape, yet ultimately falls short of his goal.
Meanwhile, back at the station, Ormewood collaborates with Trent, conducting a covert interrogation of Andrew's wife at Trent's residence. Andrew's wife expresses her disbelief in Sam's guilt regarding her husband's demise. By the time Faith and Sam perceive the danger, Officer O'Hara is already standing outside, his gun blazing at their window. Instinctively, Faith shields Sam, their lips meeting in a tender, fleeting kiss as she bravery defends them both. With unwavering resolve, Faith retaliates and brings Officer O'Hara down. The tension escalates as the reinforcement of officers arrives, prompting Faith and Sam to surrender themselves. Amanda subsequently joins the scene and safely escorts Faith back home. Trent, relieved and jubilant, welcomes his partner back, safe and sound.
As for Sam, his conviction has been overturned, yet his escape has left him entangled in a web of legal intricacies that he must still navigate. Meanwhile, Trent returns to his abode, his eyes catching sight of a bottle of nonalcoholic beer. Curious, he inquiries Angie about its presence, wondering if something had gone awry. She merely assures him that it was just a particularly challenging day.
