Their journey takes an unexpected turn when they encounter Javier, a cherished friend of Antonio's, whom he promptly introduces to Will. Overwhelmed by the flurry of Spanish conversation, Will excuses himself, seeking solace by the tranquil shores. There, he immerses himself in practicing the Spanish language, determined to adapt to his new surroundings. Amidst his studies, a vision of Lucy appears, commending him for his diligent efforts. Haunted by his tumultuous past, where love seemed to bring only sorrow and loss, Will struggles to shake off the notion that anyone he cares for is destined to meet an untimely end. Lucy, gentle and reassuring, reminds him that his self-blame is unfair, though it is all he knows. She urges him to let go of the past and fade away as Will ventures into the ocean, breathing in its salty air and finding solace in the rhythmic embrace of the waves.

Elsewhere, Angie, in pursuit of a suspect, unfortunately falls and sustains an injury to her back. Refusing stronger pain medications, she opts instead for the modest relief of Tylenol. Meanwhile, Will, Antonio, and Javier gather to fulfill Will's heartfelt wish of adding Lucy's name to the family's final resting place. Deep in thought about leaving a lasting tribute to his mother, Will watches as Antonio, in a poignant moment of nostalgia, accidentally spills a bit of coffee, reminiscing about their shared morning rituals before school days.

The locals, with warmth brimming in their hearts, embrace Will and regale him with tales of long-forgotten kin. Antonio, however, finds no joy in Javi's dealings with a property dealer in Puerto Rico. Curiosity piqued, Javi seeks to delve deeper into Will's background. He offers Will a refreshing beverage, while Antonio raises a toast to familial bonds, urging him to prolong his stay. Yet, Will's thoughts wander back to Angie and Betty, leaving him yearning for their company.

Michael harbors resentment towards Faith's assignment to this case, to which she gently reminds him it stems from his wishful thinking about the victim's demise. Michael insists the victim was a predator who preyed on children, but Faith asserts their duty remains unbiased. The case centers on Jason Peters, a middle school swim coach who was imprisoned for five years after being caught assaulting one of his female students. Recently, he was discovered dead in the woods, a cat-shaped donut toy clamped between his jaws, without a soul in sight to witness his fate. Speculations arise about a neighbor harboring resentment over his relocation.

As Will catches up with Angie, Antonio's frantic call interrupts, reporting Javi's untimely demise. Will rushes to the scene, but Amanda cautions him against disturbing anything, anticipating the FBI's arrival. Agent Kristen Murphy of the FBI soon steps in, yet Antonio remains noncooperative. During her interrogation of Will, he realizes an agent had been tailing them in Puerto Rico, prompting him to search for his uncle. He tracks him down on the subway and vows assistance, but Antonio's trust in the FBI remains shattered.

Antonio unfolds the history of the Independence Movement to Will, recounting Puerto Rico's resentment towards US annexation. The FBI's surveillance of their homes and families intensified, and soon after Antonio's 1986 relocation to the island, he and Javi stumbled upon documents exposing this clandestine program.

He was uneasy with his current life trajectory, prompting him to adopt a new identity and embark on a professorial career. Faith discovered a palm print in Jason Peters' vehicle, which led them to interview Doug, a suspect already flagged in the system. Doug made no secret of his gun ownership or his dislike for Peters. The other residents came to Doug's defense, describing him as an integral part of the neighborhood watch, with some even resorting to demeaning Michael.

Antonio dropped by Will's place, where Angie learned that the unidentified male was Milton Clark, notorious for extorting individuals. They needed to uncover Clark's victims before the FBI did.

Doug confessed to spraying skunk spray in Jason's car and admitted that everyone in their group chat wanted Jason to move, hating having to be neighbors with a convicted criminal.

Max showed up, battle-worn from a fight. Some schoolmates were upset about Michael defending a sex offender, and a damaging video had circulated. The video, posted by the Virtual Watchmen, claimed the police were targeting innocents and had exposed Jeremy and Max's personal information.

Will, Antonio, and Angie approached Milton Clark's assistant, who granted them permission to search the house but warned them that the FBI had already been there. They stumbled upon a USB drive linking FBI Agent Murphy and a realtor named Scooter McMillan to criminal activities, although the files remained encrypted.

Amanda confronted Kristen Murphy, demanding her departure. Kristen ran into Antonio in the parking garage, and a struggle ensued over a gun as he questioned her connection to Scooter McMillan. She mocked his chances of securing the evidence. When she fired the gun, it was empty, and the GBI agents swooped in.

She has been apprehended, bringing an end to the ordeal at last. Faith and Michael track down Elliot Danville, the proprietor of the Virtual Watchmen, who expresses his support in thwarting their efforts to unravel the mystery behind Jason Peters' murder. Angie pays a visit to Crystal at her workplace, urging her to attend a support group for sexual assault survivors, and kindly offers to accompany her. Antonio makes the heartfelt decision to return to Puerto Rico, bidding farewell to Angie and Will with genuine sentiment. As Will resumes his duties at work, he is startled to discover that the tally of slain child sex offenders has unfortunately risen.
