In the fourth episode of Wonder Man, we are introduced to DeMarr Davis, a bar doorman who, after a night of throwing out garbage, inadvertently comes into contact with a gooey substance that imbues him with superpowers. The next morning, DeMarr wakes up to find that his body has transformed into a portal that enables people to teleport through him. That same night, tragedy strikes the bar where DeMarr works when a fire breaks out. The doors are jammed, but DeMarr, now realizing his newfound ability, urges the patrons to pass through him. He saves many lives, including that of Josh Gad, an actor.

Impressed by DeMarr's bravery and quick thinking, Josh hires him as his bodyguard. During his time working for Josh, DeMarr helps the actor evade paparazzi and fans. However, Josh's agent suggests that DeMarr try his hand at acting. With Josh's encouragement, DeMarr joins a heist movie that Josh is a part of, and his superpower quickly captures the public's imagination. "Ding Dong" becomes his signature catchphrase, and people are fascinated by his identity as The Doorman.
One night, DeMarr returns to his old workplace to talk to his former colleague about a new commercial he is filming. As he reads the script and looks at online fan comments, he realizes that people are starting to tire of his "Ding Dong" persona. DeMarr is exhausted by the fact that his potential as an actor is limited to his superpower. His agent promises more opportunities are coming his way, but things go south when he starts working as an infomercial salesman. The product that DeMarr is endorsing turns out to be a scam, and he decides to take a break from acting.
One day, DeMarr gets a call from Josh, who reveals that their heist movie is getting a sequel. DeMarr is hopeful that this will save his career. However, while filming the scene, Josh enters DeMarr's body but never makes it out on the other side. This unexpected turn of events leaves DeMarr wondering where his journey as an actor will take him next.
DeMarr is apprehended by the Department of Damage Control, as Hollywood introduces a "No Superhero" clause, effectively barring superheroes from pursuing a career in acting. The episode concludes with Simon, perched on the set of American Horror Story, where he witnesses the news of DeMarr's arrest and the looming threat of the No Superhero clause that could potentially derail his own aspirations.
