Would You Marry Me – K-drama Episode 2 1

Suddenly, the phone rings, interrupting his reverie. It's Me-ri, and their meeting at the cozy coffee shop unfolds as a pivotal moment. Her proposal—that he pretend to be her husband—is met with a resolute no from Woo-joo, who dismisses it as a ruse and vows to expose her if he catches her up to her nefarious plans.

Meanwhile, Woo-joo's grandmother, the formidable Go Pil-nyeon, makes an announcement that shakes the company to its core: Woo-joo will be taking over as the head of marketing, replacing Kim Mi-yeon's son, Jang Eung-soo. The announcement is made in the presence of Mi-yeon's husband, Jang Han-gu, who holds the position of chief financial officer. Mi-yeon's displeasure is palpable as she watches her son Eung-soo and husband Han-gu show little concern; she feels marginalized and believes Pil-nyeon is biased in favor of her brother's son. Han-gu soothes her with a promise of a meal after work.

Elsewhere, Woo-jin pays a visit to Jin-Gyeong in the hospital. As they stroll through the corridors, a young girl dashes past them, trips, and begins to cry. Woo-joo notices a stuffed toy hanging from her bag, triggering a memory of a similar gift he received at the hospital after the accident—a toy that told her not to cry or a tiger would get her. Woo-jin uses those exact words to comfort the weeping child, mirroring the words of comfort he received as a child himself.

Later that evening, the realtor, accompanied by a team of workers, appeared at Me-ri's apartment. They barged in to take measurements, as renovations were set to commence in a week's time. Me-ri, resigned to the situation, took a leisurely stroll to the park. There, she received a call from her mother, who updated her on her sister's progress at the restaurant job in the US. The conversation eventually turned to the wedding, and Me-ri knew she had to be honest with her mother, promising to visit soon.

The next day, Woo-joo began his new job at the company. His uncle, Han-gu, introduced him to the marketing team, which included Oh Sun-hee, Han Won-suk, and Cha Se-jung. Han-gu tasked him with becoming familiar with the ongoing projects before meeting with all the teams later in the morning.

During the team meeting, Sun-hee presented the marketing plan for the company's new product. Eung-soo raised a concern about the packaging, noting that the copyright had expired, which could create a legal issue. It emerged that when he was the marketing head, he had authorized the team to apply for single-use rights on packaging rather than permanent rights on the design. Eung-soo attempted to pin the blame on Woo-joo for negligence, and Pil-nyeon ordered that the issue be addressed promptly.

The design company contracted for the design was Me-ri's. When Se-jung called to inquire about purchasing permanent rights, Me-ri instructed Song-hee to ask for 50 million won. Eung-soo had previously called the company and instructed them that if anyone from the company called about the copyright issue, they should ask for five times the price. Although Me-ri knew the price was unreasonable, she still asked for it, curious about the reason behind the earlier call.

At the Beaute department store, Sung-woo expressed his frustration about the price to Sang-hyun, who updated him that he was working on reducing it.

As Sang-hyun stormed back to his office, his fury boiled over upon learning that Sung-woo had dared to kick him. He demanded that Sung-woo clean his shoes, and immediately reached out to Mr. Kwon, reminding him of the crucial presence of Me-ri's husband at the upcoming ceremony; otherwise, the prize would be considered null and void.

At Merry Design Studio, Me-ri and Song-hee anxiously awaited a call from the company. A text from Mr. Kwon arrived, reiterating the same condition. Me-ri pondered asking Song-hee's brother to play the role of her husband, but Woo-joo's warning echoed in her mind, and she decided against it.

Instead, Me-ri turned to Woo-ju's family for help. Woo-ju's mother and sister, aware of the breakup, were overjoyed that Woo-ju was dating someone more affluent. They received a call from Woo-ju, who informed them of his resignation and Jenny's promise to take care of his needs. Just then, Me-ri arrived at their doorstep.

Before she could explain her visit, Woo-ju's mother launched a verbal attack on her, her mother, and even her education, deriding her for attending a third-rate school and not being worthy of Woo-ju. Me-ri stood up to her and left the house, vowing never to contact Woo-ju again. She asked the mother to convey a message to Woo-ju: that regardless of what he heard about her in the future, he should not reach out to her.

As Me-ri left Woo-ju's house, she received a call from Song-hee informing her of a scheduled meeting with the bakery's marketing team leader to negotiate the contract in person. Prior to the meeting, Me-ri overheard Sun-hee on the phone in the washroom, realizing the contract's vital importance to the company.

Me-ri was further shocked to discover that the head of marketing was none other than Woo-joo himself. Despite his initial refusal, Woo-joo eventually gave in after considering the pressure from Pil-nyeon and a bet he had made with Eung-soo.

Woo-joo joined Me-ri at the Beaute department store for the award ceremony on the following Saturday. Initially, they planned to merely show up and collect the keys, but quickly realized there would be a press release and photo session with Sung-woo for publicity. Mr. Kwon agreed to use fake names, and during the photoshoot, Woo-joo faked a viral disease, prompting them all to wear masks.

Woo-jin intended to leave immediately after the photo session but ran into Sang-hyun and Me-ri heading out to their house. Me-ri had lied that Woo-joo was going for more tests at the hospital, so Sang-hyun offered to give him a ride.

Woo-joo finds himself inexorably drawn into the fold, and Sang-hyun escorts them to the opulent abode. As they ponder the logistics of relocating their belongings, Me-ri candidly reveals her intention to sell the house due to its inaccessibility from their respective workplaces. However, a sudden realization dawns upon her as she realizes one of the terms she agreed to and signed stipulates a 90-day ban on selling. In the interim, Me-ri declares her decision to reside on the property. Sang-hyun, their neighbor by chance, informs them of his role as a frequent inspector. The situation proves more intricate than Woo-joo had anticipated, leading him to decide on an unplanned departure before Sang-hyun's return for a community tour.

The episode concludes with an unexpected encounter for Woo-joo as he runs into his aunt Mi-yeon and Eung-soo, who are paying a visit to a prominent figure in the community. Overhearing Sang-hyun inquire about Woo-joo's wife, Woo-joo is caught in the midst of a phone conversation with Me-ri when their path crosses. The sudden disconnection prompts Me-ri to venture outside in search of him, adding another layer of intrigue to the already complex situation.
