After a thorough examination of their DNA, Beast makes a startling revelation. The Jean who has been accompanying them, Nathan's mother, is revealed to be a clone. She erupts in fury, refusing to believe the truth for a moment, but the others' doubts about her only deepen the rift. In a moment of isolation, she takes her son and retreats to his bedroom, seeking solace.

Suddenly, a voice breaks the silence, speaking to her through the baby monitor. Concurrently, Beast announces that he has uncovered the culprit behind Jean Grey's cloning - Mr. Sinister. The villainous figure reveals the truth to her, confirming that she is indeed a clone and that his ultimate goal is to seize Nathan for his own nefarious purposes.

X-Men '97 – Season 1 Episode 3 1

The clone stands helpless against Sinister, for he is the architect of every cell in her body. Memories flood her mind in a torrent, overwhelming her senses and causing her to lose control. A red diamond appears on her forehead, a symbol of her escalating powers. In a fit of rage, she unleashes her abilities, transforming her clothes and destroying the cherished pictures she once shared with Xavier and the X-Men.Morph, Wolverine, and Gambit exited the Danger Room, each intent on their separate missions, yet soon they began to encounter bizarre phenomena. Morph stumbled upon Logan in the shower, but in an instant, he transformed into a terrifying beast. Gambit's gaze fell upon Rogue and Magneto, locked in an unnatural embrace, enveloped in a mysterious green glow.

Meanwhile, the horror film Roberto and Jubilee, which they had once dismissed as mere entertainment, became a terrifying reality. A creature emerged from the television screen, bearing the visage of Roberto's mother. She screamed accusations at him, calling him a monster, a failure, a liar.

Strange creatures and hallucinations began to plague Beast, Bishop, and Cyclops as well. When the entire team converged in one location, they descended into a realm that resembled hell itself. Monsters swarmed them from all directions, but this time, they united their powers to combat the menace. However, just when it seemed they might prevail, a gargantuan demonic sentinel emerged, dashing their hopes.

In a moment of desperation, the real Jean unleashed her powers, saving them from certain doom. But their victory was fleeting. The clone, now calling herself the Goblin Queen, snatched Nathan and fled to the lair of Mr. Sinister. Fortunately, Morph knew the location of his secret laboratory.

Sinister revealed his plan. He believed that the combination of Jean and Cyclops' powers made Nathan's potential limitless. But first, he needed to render the baby invulnerable. With that, he placed the infant within a mysterious machine filled with green chemicals and activated it.

As the X-Men stormed the villain's mansion, they found the Goblin Queen waiting for them, her presence ominous. Morph transformed into Magik, but the clone's mind games were too powerful. She twisted their perception, transforming them into demonic versions of their former selves. Magneto attempted to capture the clone by manipulating the windows, but she retaliated with a barrage of objects that he could not repel.

As Cyclops unleashed his devastating optic blast, he suddenly halted, horrified to see her bleeding. The Goblin Queen seized the opportunity, creeping closer to him, her mind invading his.

Meanwhile, at the mansion, Jean Grey stirred back to consciousness. Logan, ever compassionate, gently guided her as she adjusted to her newfound powers. Together, they sensed Scott's peril, prompting Jean to engage in a telepathic dialogue with her clone.

The Goblin Queen's fury boiled over, accusing the woman of stealing her life. As they journeyed through their shared memories, they encountered Annie, Jean's friend whose tragic demise had awakened her powers. Upon witnessing Nathan's birth, the clone regained her composure and offered Scott her assistance.

They tracked down Sinister and rescued the helpless babe, but the villain taunted them with a cryptic warning that they had unwittingly doomed him. Suddenly, a techno-organic virus began to ravage Nathan's body.

After a thorough analysis, Beast shook his head, declaring that current technology was powerless against the virus. Jean's clone proposed a desperate plan: take Nathan to the future with Bishop. However, Bishop's time-traveling abilities were limited; he could only take the boy. Scott, haunted by memories of abandonment, refused to consider such a fate for his child. Alas, no other options seemed viable.

In a tender moment, Jean used her telepathy to whisper comfort to the baby, assuring him that he was perfect and deeply loved by his parents. Whenever loneliness overcame him, he could hold those words close and feel her embrace. Then, Bishop took the baby and vanished into the future, leaving Jean with a heavy heart.

Later, the real Jean encountered the clone, now calling herself Madelyne Pryor, as she prepared to leave the mansion. Despite her efforts to dissuade her, Madelyne was resolute, desiring to forge her own path. They parted ways, each with their own secrets and unanswered questions about how or when Sinister had meddled with their lives.

Far away, Forge, an old comrade of Xavier's, stumbled upon Storm. With a sense of purpose, he vowed to assist her in reclaiming what had been lost.
