As the Ferris wheel hovered perilously close to collapse, Magneto intervened, harnessing his magnetic abilities to hoist it back into the sky, heroically rescuing the lives dangling precariously below. A newswoman, taken aback by the turn of events, reported the scene as Cyclops and Doctor Cooper watched their erstwhile foe transform into a guardian angel.

Later, when a gang of bandits descended upon the Morlocks, Magneto intervened again, swiftly and effortlessly halting their advance. Among the young mutants, Leech, thrilled to find him in the dank sewers, regarded him with a newfound sense of awe.

Returning to the X-Mansion, Magneto announced his intention to relocate the Morlocks to Genosha, a move he deemed necessary to safeguard their safety. To him, this was just one of the many issues they could jointly address to make the world a better place.

However, Scott remained skeptical, doubting Magneto's sincerity. He pressed Jean to delve into Magneto's mind, even if it meant a daily mental expedition, but she steadfastly refused. Jean stared at her superhero attire, her mind heavy with a confession she felt compelled to share with Storm. She confided her fears that her unborn child might inherit mutant abilities, a fate she dreaded for them to endure.

Ororo, understanding Jean's anguish, confessed that she too had pondered what life would be like if she were mortal. She comforted her friend, reassuring her that she already radiated the warmth and love of a mother, mutant or not.

Rogue valiantly endeavors to engage Magneto in meaningful dialogue, striving to convince him that his actions must speak louder than words. She argues that mere assertions of change will not suffice; he must prove his transformation to the X-Men, who are understandably skeptical after all he has done. As part of her efforts, she tentatively reaches out to remove his gloves, hinting at a deeper, past connection that is now fraught with tension. However, the woman rejects his advances, unwilling to rekindle what was once lost.

Suddenly, the serene mansion is disrupted by the thundering arrival of helicopters. Dr. Cooper emerges, demanding that Magneto pay for his sins against humanity. With soldiers armed and ready, she threatens him, but Magneto, unfazed, demonstrates his formidable power by manipulating the vehicles under her command. To her surprise, he concedes to standing trial at the UN headquarters, insisting only on its fairness.

Outside the UN headquarters, a rabid mob gathers, shouting that Magneto deserves no trial and mutants have no rights. Meanwhile, a shadowy figure prepares to storm the building, intent on ushering in a new era for humanity.

Within the courtroom, Magneto offers a heartfelt account of his actions, explaining that his difference is the sole reason for the hatred he endures. He concedes that justice is overdue, but equally, so is healing. He rails against the sentinels and power-dampening collars that humans brandish as protection but are, in truth, tools of extinction. All his actions have been in retaliation for the atrocities committed against his people.

As the protesters breach the perimeter, the X-Men rush to defend the trial, leaving only Storm to safeguard Magneto and the jury. Meanwhile, Jean urgently informs Logan that the baby has arrived, and he rushes through the city with her, narrowly avoiding collisions with innocent bystanders.

The remaining X-Men valiantly strive to secure the perimeter, but the situation escalates when the dreaded X-Cutioner appears. Armed with numerous weapons and collars, he knows exactly how to neutralize the superheroes. Despite a valiant effort, Scott falls under his onslaught, but Morph intervenes, saving him from further harm. Upon learning of the baby's arrival, Cyclops and Rogue hasten to the hospital, leaving the others to continue the defense.

Storm firmly instructed the guards to lend a hand to the X-Men and insisted that they deactivate Magneto's collar, an order they reluctantly acquiesced to. Meanwhile, Rogue and Scott arrived at the hospital, but their hopes were dashed when the doctor refused to assist with mutant births. Left with no other choice, Rogue resorted to touching the doctor, absorbing his medical knowledge, and resolved to deliver the baby herself.

Unnoticed, X-Cutioner sneaked into the courtroom, aiming his enigmatic gun at Magneto. Storm, quick to react, pushed him out of the way, only to be struck by the bullet herself. The impact rendered her powerless, a devastating blow. Enraged, Magneto imprisoned the criminal and lambasted the jury for their role in the day's events. He lashed out, accusing humanity of dreaming only of rendering mutants helpless, despite the X-Men's tireless efforts to aid all.

With a sweep of his hand, Magneto lifted X-Cutioner and the jury into the air, taunting that he could end them like insignificant insects at any moment. However, his anger softened when he remembered Charles's words. He chose to believe in the dream of peace, striving to be better despite the challenges.

Elsewhere, Jean and Scott beamed with joy as they held their newborn son, Nathan, in the hospital. Dr. Cooper announced that discussions were underway to admit the nation of Genosha into the United Nations, a hopeful sign for mutantkind. Magneto, however, cautioned Scott that while it had been a promising week for their people, it had come with a cost, and that things could still turn sour.

Beast, with a grave expression, explained to Ororo the nature of the weapon used against them. It emitted the same radiation as the power-dampening collars, rendering their abilities useless. The realization that she might never regain her mutant powers hit Storm hard. Despite Jean's assurances, Storm secretly left the mansion, leaving only a letter behind.

As Jean read Storm's thoughts in the letter, the mansion buzzed with activity. Scott played happily with Nathan, unaware of the drama unfolding elsewhere. But the most shocking revelation came when Rogue approached Magneto and removed her gloves. She could touch him without draining his powers, and they stood there, a tentative truce between them. Gambit, lurking nearby, waited patiently for Rogue to emerge.

Morph shook his head in disbelief as Jean finished reading the letter. They refused to believe that Storm had abandoned them and insisted she would return soon. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and they hurried to see who it was. To their astonishment, it was Jean Grey, her face etched with pain. Or someone who looked exactly like her, pleading for the X-Men's help.
