On Sunday, Curry's body was discovered amidst the ruins by the first responders. Her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, posted an update on Facebook, stating, "Just an hour ago, the coroner confirmed that her remains were indeed found on the premises." Kelley had last seen Curry, affectionately known as "Momma D," on Tuesday evening, after accompanying her home from the hospital. The next morning, Kelley awoke to an alert notifying her of a power outage at Curry's residence. She hastily made her way to Curry's house but was halted by the authorities, who informed her that the property had been completely destroyed by the blaze.

Finally, on Friday, Kelley was escorted to the scene by the National Guard. Upon arrival, she was confronted with a heart-wrenching sight. "It was a scene of utter devastation," Kelley recounted to a local news outlet. "Nothing remained except for her cherished blue Cadillac, standing as a solemn remnant amidst the ruins."
