Conner Smith reminisces about the poignant aftermath of a devastating car accident in 2025 that took the life of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins. In a recent interview with People magazine on Friday, the 35-year-old American singer revealed that the things he had spent years pursuing now seem insignificant in comparison to the tragedy. "In those moments, you see that every aspect of your life is ablaze," Conner said of the accident, where Dorothy lost her life after being struck by the singer's Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck as she crossed a crosswalk in Nashville. "I say this with the understanding that everything in my world took a backseat to the tragedy and what the family was enduring," he added.

The "Take It Slow" crooner found himself at an emotional standstill shortly after the fatal incident. "It was no longer about the number of tickets sold or the number of streams a song received, or whether my songs were esteemed in the highest echelons of critical acclaim," Conner said. "It was such a random, fleeting moment in life and such a tragedy. You can't fathom it. And those questions will linger. There will never be answers to why something so tragic occurred or why I was on that road at that precise moment," he added.

When discussing his mental health, the "Creek Will Rise" hitmaker said, "I didn't care. "I didn't care about my career or image or reputation or even how I would ever recover from this. I genuinely didn't care because it just didn't matter," Conner concluded.
