Dita Von Teese, a globally acclaimed figure for reviving old Hollywood's glamour on stage, recently disclosed her thoughts on being objectified by others. The 52-year-old icon revealed that there are times when she actually "craves sexualization and objectification." Dita admitted that she doesn't mind being objectified momentarily, even though some people shy away from discussing the topic. She said it can sometimes feel gratifying, especially when unexpected attendees who have never seen her perform walk in and find the show entertaining, confident, and slightly seductive.
During her conversation on Fearne Cotton's Happy Place podcast, she shared, "I understand it's considered taboo, but sometimes you just think, 'Wouldn't it be nice to be objectified for a moment?' I do want to be sexualized and objectified at times." She continued, "I'm so accustomed to having a theater filled with women who might be there because they've read my book or follow me. But, particularly in Vegas, there are people who don't know me or what my show is about. They just walk in and think, 'Yeah, this is hot,' and I'm like, 'Oh good. I'm glad it's still sexy and hot too.'"
"I strive to create a show that, even if you've never heard of me, you'll leave thinking, 'That was so much fun. I've never seen anything like that before in my life,'" she explained. However, Dita clarified that she doesn't feel objectified when she's on stage in revealing outfits because it's part of her performance. Instead, it's in everyday life, when she's not performing, that she sometimes feels objectified.
