Dylan Minnette, the star of the hit series "13 Reasons Why," has revealed the reason behind his hiatus from the silver screen to focus on his musical pursuits with his rock band, Wallows. "I was blessed to find success in acting," he explained. "My role in '13 Reasons Why' catapulted me to fame and marked a significant milestone in my acting career. However, as time progressed, it began to feel more like a job than a passion. While I was always grateful for the opportunities and the thrill it brought, it gradually lost its spark."

Minnette shared that he and his bandmates, Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston, have always dreamed of taking their music to the highest level possible. "I feel like I'm at a juncture where I can devote myself fully to this endeavor and see how far we can go with our music," he added.

The "Saving Grace" actor emphasized that achieving this goal would require his undivided attention and serious commitment. "To make this a reality, I need to put in 100% of my time and energy and treat it with utmost seriousness. We want to show the world that we are a genuine band with serious ambitions."

At this juncture, Minnette finds pursuing his passion for music to be "natural and inspiring." Occasionally, he finds himself pondering a return to the screen, as he did last year, but the timing always seems to align with unfavorable circumstances, such as the actors' strike.

Despite these obstacles, Minnette remains focused on his musical journey with Wallows, determined to make a lasting impact on the music industry. His dedication and passion are evident in his every word, leaving no doubt that he is embarked on a new and exciting chapter of his life.

As his hiatus from the bright lights of Hollywood continues to stretch on indefinitely — his last on-screen appearance dating back to 2022's Scream and The Dropout — Minnette confesses that he's gradually finding a renewed spark for acting. Moreover, he senses a latent urge to contribute artistically and creatively in realms beyond music. "I sincerely believe that I have something valuable to offer, and acting seems to be the medium through which I can express it," he continues. "I'm starting to feel that familiar rush of inspiration for the craft once again. And perhaps, when the time comes for us to fulfill our duties as Wallows and take a well-deserved break as a band, that will be the perfect juncture for me to pursue this newfound inspiration and create something truly meaningful."
