Kid Cudi, baring his soul about one of the darkest eras of his life, has disclosed how plummeting to the depths of despair ultimately propelled him to seek assistance. On the August 13th edition of Call Her Daddy, the 41-year-old rapper and author of 'Cudi: The Memoir' recounted how his nadir stretched between 2015 and 2016, triggered by a harrowing relapse that landed him in rehab.
"I relapsed and began using once more," he confessed, painting a vivid picture of his rapid descent. "It was akin to a twilight that grew ever darker, engulfing me. Suicide loomed in my thoughts incessantly, a haunting daydream that would not fade."
Recalling his harrowing realization that his battles were far from over, Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, better known as Cudi, revealed the crushing blow. "Upon relapsing, I was confronted with a stark truth—six years had passed since I'd indulged in this toxicity, and I'd convincedly believed I'd moved past it. Clearly, I hadn't. This revelation shattered me," he admitted.
He candidly admitted feeling trapped in an endless loop, weary of the disappointment he perceived in others. "Folks tire of witnessing your downfalls. It's time to pull yourself together, man. You're no longer in your twenties, living carefree," he said, acknowledging the stark reality he could no longer ignore.
Seeking treatment, he emphasized, might very well have been a lifesaver. "Something dire would undoubtedly have transpired had I not."
Since then, Cudi's approach to navigating challenging times has undergone a profound transformation. "Post-2016, I've become a thousandfold stronger. Sure, I still get blue about certain things, but I swiftly bounce back. Before, a setback would linger for weeks, locking me away in sorrowful solitude," he elaborated.
"Now, I'm a testament to resilience, thriving despite the storms."
