Maren Morris embarks on a thrilling new journey! On March 27th, Thursday, the vocal powerhouse behind the hit "My Church" unveiled her heartfelt new single, "Carry Me Through," just a matter of days following the announcement of her eagerly anticipated fourth studio album, Dreamsicle. Morris took to social media to declare, "Here comes the first taste of D R E A M S I C L E."
In her soulful rendering of "Carry Me Through," the 34-year-old croons with a smoky, melancholic timbre, "Yeah, I know tomorrow's gonna come / Preaching to a choir of one / It's taken me a while, but I'll get there soon / Yeah, I got friends around / Plenty of hands held out / But I'm still the one who has to choose / To carry me through."
Accompanying the single is a captivating music video where Morris stands alone, intimately performing the track while gazing directly into the camera. Seated on wooden chairs and sifting through sand, she embodies the poignant lyrics. Halfway through, the monochrome visuals transition into a vibrant golden hue, symbolizing the journey through adversity narrated in the lyrics. The clip concludes with Morris beaming from ear to ear.
Morris made waves on March 25th, Tuesday, when she announced the impending release of her fourth studio album, Dreamsicle. Sharing the album artwork, which depicts her holding a glass seemingly filled with iced tea adorned with a lemon slice, she captioned her Instagram post, "D R E A M S I C L E my fourth album arrives May 9. The first taste 'carry me through' is out this Thursday at 11am CT. Pre-save at the link in my bio."
Slated for release on May 9th, the 14-track LP will also feature tracks from her Intermission EP. Her last album, Humble Quest, saw the light of day in 2022, with the five-song EP Intermission following in August 2024.
Upon the EP's release, Morris penned an introspective note on Instagram about pressing the "scariest reset button." Amidst her divorce from husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023, she reflected, "Intermission is the distillation of the strangest year of my life. I decided to hit the scariest reset button I could have ever conceptualized, and there was no looking back." She further elaborated, "The lengths one will go to feel joy again can sometimes be desperate and terrifying, but we all deserve peace in these fleeting journeys around the sun."
