Rachel Brosnahan calls out actors who ‘complain about’ own superhero movies

Rachel Brosnahan isn't pulling any punches when discussing how some actors approach their roles in superhero films. As she prepares for her eagerly anticipated debut as Lois Lane in the upcoming "Superman," set to grace theaters on July 11, the Emmy-nominated actress is making her stance abundantly clear.

In a recent chat with Amanda Seyfried for Interview Magazine, Brosnahan aired her views on actors who criticize their superhero endeavors. "I just don't get why people say 'yes' and then proceed to gripe about it afterward," she remarked. "Listen, I'm not trying to slam other actors, but there was a phase when it was trendy to dislike superhero movies and dismiss such projects in hindsight. Either do it or don't, and then stand by your decision with conviction."

Seyfried chimed in during their discussion, observing that "you can sense when someone is doing it with passion, elegance, and a sense of wonder." This prompted Brosnahan's pointed comments, which seemingly echoed recent sentiments from Dakota Johnson.

Earlier this year, Johnson opened up about her experience filming "Madame Web," a Marvel spinoff that failed to win over critics or audiences. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, she reflected on the hurdles of working on a major studio production. "It wasn't my fault. Nowadays, a lot of creative decisions are made by committee," Johnson revealed. "Or by people devoid of any creative spark. And it's incredibly tough to create art that way, or to craft something entertaining under those circumstances."

Johnson continued, "I believe that unfortunately, 'Madame Web' started out as one thing and morphed into another. By then, I was just along for the ride. But these things happen. High-budget movies flop all the time."

While Brosnahan refrained from naming names, her message was unmistakable: take pride in the work you choose to undertake, especially in a genre that is continually evolving and captivating audiences worldwide.
