According to TMZ, Becker's family revealed that she took her own life last week in her Illinois home. She had recently relocated to care for her family, planning to eventually return to California. Her family disclosed that Becker had been grappling with mental health issues and was still recovering from a skateboarding accident.

In 1996, Becker graced the screen of "The Real World" during its Miami-based fifth season. At that time, she worked as an editor at Wildstorm Comics in La Jolla, California. She once described herself in a show promo as "a 19-year-old soul trapped in a 25-year-old's body."

The reality show follows a diverse group of young adults who share a living space for several months. Becker's season paired her with Joe Patane, Dan Renzi, Melissa Padrón, Mike Lambert, Cynthia Roberts, and Flora Alekseyeva.

Upon learning of her death, Alekseyeva wrote on Instagram, "I am devastated to hear that my roommate Sarah has passed away. I can't believe this. She was the most generous soul I've ever known, always ready to lend a helping hand. I had no idea she was going through tough times. My prayers are with her family. May she skate with the angels and find peace."

Renzi also shared his thoughts on Instagram, stating, "Sarah and I haven't spoken since our show ended, so I'm unaware of her struggles. But our cast of seven underwent a unique, intense, and at times traumatic journey together, creating a bond that transcends even when we choose not to stay in touch. This news is heartbreaking."
