Published on Tuesday by Doubleday, "Dream State" has been chosen as Oprah's Book Club's most recent selection, with Puchner slated to engage in an insightful discussion about the book with Oprah Winfrey on her podcast. Spanning half a century, the novel is set against the backdrop of a swiftly warming Montana, where it delves into the profound implications of living with past mistakes—both personal and inherited. As described by the publisher, "Penned with humor, precision, and an immense heart, 'Dream State' stands as both a loving tribute and a poignant elegy to the American West. It is a thrilling and ambitious ode to the unyielding power of friendship, the unpredictable nature of marriage, and the poignant beauty of impermanence."

Puchner, who is also the author of the PEN/Faulkner Award finalist "Model Home" and the short story collections "Last Day on Earth" and "Music Through the Floor," joins a star-studded television roster at A24, which boasts hits like HBO's "Euphoria," Netflix's "Beef" and "Mo," and Hulu's "Ramy," alongside upcoming releases such as "Superfakes" on Peacock and "The Spot" on Hulu. However, an outlet for this exciting new project has yet to be announced.

Serving as showrunner, Birnbaum will executive produce alongside Sackeroff, Puchner, and the Gloria Sanchez team comprising Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alix Taylor. Both Birnbaum and Puchner are represented by WME.
