Lee Daniels' haunting supernatural thriller, The Deliverance, will make its premiere in select cinemas on August 16th, before enchanting audiences worldwide on Netflix on August 30th. Unveiled in a pulse-racing trailer released on Tuesday, Andra Day takes on the role of a resilient young mother, Ebony Jackson, who wages a relentless battle for her life, her faith, and the innocence of her cherished children.
Embarking on a new chapter in a mysterious abode, Ebony—portrayed by Day as a woman grappling with her inner demons—must confront a malevolent force lurking within her new home to safeguard her family from imminent peril.
"Father, we beseech you to purge and consecrate us for this deliverance," pleads Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, embodying Reverend Bernice James, in a desperate attempt to exorcise the house—and Ebony's family—from the clutches of chaotic possession.
However, not everything unfolds as anticipated. Ebony embarks on an epic struggle for a higher power, determined to rescue herself and her loved ones from the clutches of demonic possession. This faith-infused thriller, inspired by a genuine tale of possession, stars an ensemble cast that includes Glenn Close, Anthony B. Jenkins, and Mo'Nique.
