Andrew Lincoln is poised to make a triumphant comeback to British television screens in the eagerly anticipated thriller, Cold Water, commissioned by ITV. Alongside the star of The Walking Dead, the six-episode series boasts a stellar cast including Ewen Bremner (renowned for Our Flag Means Death and Trainspotting), Indira Varma (a veteran of Game of Thrones and Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Eve Myles (acclaimed for Hijack and Keeping Faith).
Written by the esteemed playwright David Ireland and produced by Sister, Cold Water unfolds in the fictional Scottish hamlet of Coldwater, where John (Lincoln), a man grappling with an identity crisis, relocates his wife (Varma) and children far from the bustle of London. Upon arrival, he swiftly befriends a neighbor (Bremner), whose serene exterior hides sinister secrets.
The plot synopsis reveals, "John's long-suppressed anger reaches a boiling point, leading to catastrophic consequences. Unexpectedly, he finds himself indebted to his new acquaintance." Ireland, who doubles as the writer, creator, and executive producer, commented, "Cold Water began with a simple question: where do I want to live - the countryside or the city? From this seemingly innocent inquiry emerged a dark, humorous, and twisted thriller. I was thrilled when Sister embraced the script and ITV decided to greenlight the project. The series will be executive produced by a team comprising Chris Fry (Landscapers, Kaos), Alice Tyler (The Following Events are Based on a Pack of Lies), Lydia Hampson (Fleabag, The Following Events are Based on a Pack of Lies), and Jane Featherstone (Chernobyl, Eric), for Sister. Ireland and Lincoln will oversee the production alongside Brian Coffey (Dinosaur, Our Ladies). ITV Studios will handle the international distribution of this highly anticipated thriller.
