For their maiden feature film, "In the Land of Brothers," budding Iranian filmmakers Raha Amirfazli and Alireza Ghasemi courageously captured the real-life struggles of Afghanistan's refugee community in Iran. Millions of individuals, fleeing decades of turmoil in Kabul, have sought refuge in the "land of their brothers" across the border. This compelling drama traverses a refugee family's journey spanning two decades, unfolding in three distinct yet interconnected chapters, each marking a decade, from the aftermath of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 to the Taliban's resurgence in 2021.
