Bleecker Street has secured the U.S. distribution rights to the psychologically chilling thriller "Victorian Psycho," helmed by Zachary Wigon and boasting a stellar cast including Maika Monroe, Jason Isaacs, and Thomasin McKenzie. This cinematic endeavor adapts the gripping bestseller penned by Virginia Feito, who has also lent her talents to crafting the screenplay.
Transporting viewers back to the eerie year of 1858, the narrative revolves around Winifred Notty (Monroe), a governess who cleverly conceals her psychopathic leanings upon her arrival at a secluded, Gothic mansion. As she assumes her duties in caring for the young charges, an unsettling pattern emerges: members of the staff start vanishing without a trace, prompting the estate's owners to belatedly ponder whether their seemingly innocuous new governess might be sweetening her demeanor with a dash of arsenic.
Scheduled for a theatrical unveiling in 2026, production on "Victorian Psycho" is set to commence this week in the misty landscapes of Ireland. Dan Kagan is producing the feature alongside Sébastien Raybaud of Anton and Wigon, in collaboration with Anonymous Content, with Raybaud having previously worked on acclaimed films such as "Greenland: Migration," "Greenland," and "The Night House." Executive producers include Nick Shumaker, Bard Dorros, Feito herself, Kent Sanderson, and Miranda King.
In a statement, Kent Sanderson, CEO of Bleecker Street, enthusiastically remarked, "We are thrilled to collaborate with this extraordinary ensemble of creative minds on 'Victorian Psycho.' Zach's vision is nothing short of exhilarating, and we are confident that every frame will captivate, astonish, and, for want of a better word, shatter expectations."
Anton is fully funding the production and handling international rights, while the U.S. distribution agreement was meticulously negotiated by King and the UTA Independent Film Group, alongside CAA Media Finance and Anton, on behalf of the filmmakers.
