Backed by Telefilm Canada, the captivating feature film "Jude & The Jinn" has wrapped up its principal photography journey, traversing the vibrant streets of Cairo and the bustling cityscape of Toronto. Alexander Siddig takes the lead role in this magical realist tale, brought to life by the visionary writer-director Rolla Tahir.
Financed by Telefilm's esteemed Talent to Watch programme and the multinational New Dawn fund, "Jude & The Jinn" stars Siddig alongside the emerging talent Azza Abbaro. The film follows Jude, a thirty-something Nubian woman, who finds herself trapped in the bureaucratic maze of Canada after immigrating. When her father faces deportation, Jude spirals into a depression until she crosses paths with a mysterious jinn, igniting an unlikely friendship.
Rounding out the cast are Deena Nina, Emmanuel Kabongo, and Hudson Wurster, each bringing their unique charm and depth to the story. Tahir, making her feature directorial debut, helms the project under her Toronto-based banner, Qan Yama Qan Films.
