A24 officially announced the premiere date for "Materialists" on Tuesday via their X platform, accompanied by an enticing post that read, "Mark your calendars. Celine Song's MATERIALISTS, arriving 6.13.2025," accompanied by a heartwarming snapshot of a "Materialists"-themed cake adorned in the shape of a heart.
This romantic comedy weaves a tale of a young matchmaker in bustling New York City, played by Johnson, who finds herself in a dilemma between her seemingly perfect match and her imperfect yet alluring ex. The star-studded ensemble also boasts the talents of Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, "Succession"'s Dasha Nekrasova, and Louisa Jacobson, promising a mesmerizing blend of emotions and humor.
Principal photography for "Materialists" commenced on April 29th, 2024, in the vibrant streets of New York and concluded the following June. Leading the production are Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films, alongside David Hinojosa of 2AM.
