Cineverse, alongside its horror-focused subsidiary Bloody Disgusting, has secured the North American distribution rights for "Wolf Creek: Legacy," marking the highly anticipated third chapter in the iconic Australian slasher saga. Production is slated to commence later this year, with theaters bracing for its chilling arrival in the autumn of 2026.
In the official synopsis that paints a picture of sheer terror, "'Wolf Creek: Legacy' narrates the harrowing tale of an unsuspecting American family who unwittingly stray into the hunting grounds of Mick Taylor, alias the Outback Killer. As the selfless parents make the ultimate sacrifice to shield their offspring, the children find themselves desolate, disoriented, and prey in the vast, unforgiving Australian wilderness."
Returning to haunt audiences once more, John Jarratt reprises his role as Mick Taylor. He will share the screen with Jay Ryan and Laura Gordon, promising a gripping encounter with evil.
"‘Wolf Creek’ stands tall among the pantheon of slasher classics, featuring one of cinema's most chilling antagonists," exclaimed Erick Opeka, Cineverse's Chief Strategy Officer and President. "We are absolutely overjoyed to bring Mick Taylor back to life on the grandeur of the big screen, thereby adding another masterpiece of terror to our burgeoning collection, standing tall alongside ‘Terrifier 3’ and our rejuvenated version of ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night,’ each a testament to our unyielding commitment to chilling cinema."
Sean Lahiff, renowned for his work on "Carnifex," will direct this harrowing odyssey, while the series' creator Greg McLean will produce alongside Bianca Martino, both under the Emu Creek Pictures banner.
"I am absolutely delighted to revisit ‘Wolf Creek’ with this exceptionally talented and imaginative creative team, led by director Sean Lahiff, equipped with a script that is both chilling and authentically terrifying," enthused McLean. "Very soon, Mick Taylor will once again terrorize tourists, horror enthusiasts, and the silver screen alike!"
The deal was masterfully negotiated by Brandon Hill, Executive Director of Acquisitions at Cineverse, in collaboration with Calum Gray of Architect Global.
