The original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is currently in negotiations to pen the eagerly anticipated sequel. Moreover, it seems the creative force behind the hit film 'The Devil Wears Prada' is set to return to the world of high fashion and publishing. Wendy Finerman, the producer behind the original blockbuster, is developing and producing this potential follow-up.

Although no deals are finalized, whispers of a sequel to the 2006 coming-of-age comedy have been circulating for quite some time. Recently, the star-studded cast of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway reunited on stage for this year's SAG Awards, fueling speculation about a potential reunion on-screen. However, there are no confirmed cast deals in place.

Disney, which would oversee the film following its acquisition of the original's studio Fox 2000, has refrained from comment. The 2006 film, based on the eponymous book, follows Andy (Hathaway), a fresh college journalism graduate, as she lands a dream job as the assistant to the formidable Miranda Priestly (Streep), a character inspired by Anna Wintour. With the help of her fellow assistant (Blunt), Andy dives deep into the glamorous world of magazines and haute couture.

The film raked in an impressive $326 million at the global box office and garnered Streep an Oscar nomination. Puck was the first to break the news of the sequel, speculating on a potential plot where Priestly remains at the helm of 'Runway' magazine, but the publication faces financial challenges in the modern publishing landscape and is struggling. Meanwhile, Blunt's former assistant has risen to become an executive at a conglomerate of luxury brands that advertise in 'Runway'.

While promoting her latest film, 'The Idea of You', Hathaway expressed doubt about the likelihood of a sequel, stating, "I don't think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen." Nevertheless, fans remain hopeful for a return to the stylish and sassy world of 'The Devil Wears Prada.'
