Universal Pictures' upcoming, yet unnamed, feature is penned by David Koepp, Spielberg's long-time collaborator on blockbusters such as 'Jurassic Park,' 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park,' 'War of the Worlds,' and 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.' The film is slated for a prime summer release on May 15, 2026, marking Spielberg's first summer offering in a decade since 'The BFG' in 2016.

Details of the plot remain under wraps, but it is touted as an event film, a genre Spielberg himself pioneered with iconic works like 'Jaws' and 'Indiana Jones.' Spielberg, a three-time Oscar winner, including Best Director and Best Picture for 'Schindler's List' and Best Director for 'Saving Private Ryan,' has been captivating audiences with his autobiographical 'The Fabelmans' for Universal. Kristi Macosko Krieger will helm the production of this new Spielberg masterpiece.

Blunt, who garnered an Oscar nomination for her performance in Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' and led the Universal film 'The Fall Guy,' is a force to be reckoned with. She also lent her voice to the kid-friendly feature 'IF' by her husband, John Krasinski, this summer. Next up, she stars alongside Dwayne Johnson in the highly anticipated A24 film 'The Smashing Machine,' currently in production. Blunt is represented by CAA and Sloane Offer.
