**Another Hot Package Alert! (via Variety)**
In talks to star in "Star One," a spy thriller directed by Doug Liman, Miles Teller and Eddie Redmayne are rumored to be the latest additions to the high-stakes world of espionage. Set to be introduced to buyers at Cannes, this film, written by David Coggeshall, follows two mismatched CIA agents - Teller as the charismatic, risk-taking operative and Redmayne as the disciplined strategist - who must collaborate on a high-stakes mission transporting arms through treacherous terrain. The film explores the untold story of a rare intelligence award tied to a significant but little-known modern operation.

Liman, currently shooting the controversial movie "Bitcoin," which features AI-generated backgrounds and stars Casey Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Pete Davidson, is poised to direct "Star One" or "Edge of Tomorrow 2" next. However, there's a slight catch - Liman's long-gestating underwater thriller "Deeper," starring Tom Cruise, hit choppy waters last year when Warner Bros. shelved it due to a staggering $275M budget request. Fortunately, Cruise is currently trying to find a new home for the project at Paramount.
Perhaps it's pure nostalgia for the days when Hollywood churned out filmmakers specializing in adult dramas and thrillers, but Liman is certainly one of the rare ones left who still gets these projects greenlit. I've always had a soft spot for Liman. His career has had its fair share of stumbles ("Jumper," anyone?), but he's never been one to take the straight path. From the sharp, talky rhythms of "Swingers" to the kinetic action of "The Bourne Identity," the chaotic energy of "Go," the sci-fi theatrics of "Edge of Tomorrow," and the underrated double bill of "American Made" and "The Wall," Liman has consistently delivered in an uncertain time for his kind of filmmaking.
