During a May 2025 interview with 60 Minutes, Curtis revealed the catalyst that once prompted her to get plastic surgery. She was 25 and filming "Perfect" with John Travolta when a cinematographer declared that he would not film her that day because her eyes were "baggy." As a result of that comment, Curtis immediately underwent plastic surgery after filming wrapped. However, she admits it did not go well, and she has regretted it ever since. In fact, she may regret it more now than ever before because she has become a vocal advocate for women, telling them, "You're gorgeous, and you're perfect the way you are."

In a March 2022 appearance on the Today show, Curtis declared that the term "anti-aging" must be abolished, stating, "I am pro-aging." She added, "I want to age with intelligence, grace, dignity, verve, and energy. I don't want to hide from it."

Curtis' statements about aging have resonated deeply with fans. One fan noted on Reddit, "I love this woman and how she's stuck to her values. Brilliant," regarding what Curtis has said about plastic surgery and aging. Another fan wrote, "She's always been extremely beautiful in a somewhat unconventional way (the short hair for example). Good on her for holding her own all these years & not caving." Yet another added, "She is gorgeous in 'The Bear' and it is so refreshing seeing a woman that has aged naturally on screen."

Today, Curtis is vocal about the "freedom" she feels in embracing aging. In March, she told AARP, "Accepting my crepey skin and showing it anyway, that's freedom. I understand what I look like. I look in the mirror. I get it. And there's no need for me to alter it."
