Goldie Hawn has finally revealed the reason behind her and her partner, Kurt Russell's, never-ending commitment to each other despite being together for 43 years. "We believed that marriage would take something from both of us that we didn't want," the 80-year-old actress told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview. "We want to choose each other every day."

"I don't like the idea of ownership, you know? And I must say that I think Kurt feels the same way," Goldie further elaborated to the outlet. "If I were a bird and someone put me in a cage, even if the door was left open, I wouldn't want to fly out. If they closed the door on me, I'd probably get rid of all my feathers and become a featherless bird."
The Christmas Chronicles star continued, "I think that's one of the areas where we all have to feel free to be who we are, and think the way we do. For those of us who basically want to have a happy life, I think you want to be happy with yourself."
"Even if we did get married, it wouldn't make any difference because it's been 42 years now," she shared.
Elsewhere in the interview, Goldie also praised Kurt, calling him a "wonderful person." "He's kind, he's funny, he's romantic, he's a wonderful person," the actress said.
For those who may not be aware, Goldie and Kurt have been together since 1983.
