Dumb First Teaser for Marvel's 'Avengers: Doomsday' with Chris Evans

Published: Dec 25 2025

As the hype builds for Avengers: Doomsday, one can't help but wonder: who among us is truly excited? After all, why would Marvel Studios retcon their own 2019 film, six years later? But here we are, with the first of four teaser trailers dropping, promising a return of Captain America/Steve Rogers played by Chris Evans, despite his heroic retirement in Avengers: Endgame. And yet, Marvel has decided to revive the legend, teasing fans with a glimpse of Evans' iconic shield once again.

Despite Evans's departure, Sam Wilson took up the mantle in Captain America: Brave New World. But now, the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is set to come together in a grand crossover event that will bring together every superhero from two decades of Marvel movies to battle the epic villain Doctor Doom, played by none other than Robert Downey Jr. – a true Marvel legend himself.

The full ensemble cast is a who's who of MCU stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Pedro Pascal.

But this whole concept is a risky one – a desperate attempt to keep Marvel relevant in an ever-evolving entertainment landscape. Personally, I'm not exactly looking forward to it with bated breath. But the fact remains that Doomsday is coming – to theaters next December.

Fourteen months after the events of the MCU's Thunderbolts (2025) movie, the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the "original" X-Men will team up to face Doctor Doom. And it's all being directed by The Russo Brothers – Anthony and Joe Russo, who brought us films like Welcome to Collinwood, You Me & Dupree, Captain America: Winter Soldier & Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame, Cherry, The Gray Man, and The Electric State. The screenplay is written by Stephen McFeely (Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame, The Gray Man, The Electric State) and co-written by Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, "Loki", "Chad Powers"). Produced by Kevin Feige, Jonathan Schwartz, Joe & Anthony Russo. Made by Marvel Studios & AGBO.

Disney sets Avengers: Doomsday to release worldwide in theaters starting December 18th, 2026. So what are your first impressions? Are you still into this?
