Blumhouse and Morgan Creek's ambitious plan for a trilogy of fresh "Exorcist" films hit a roadblock after last year's "The Exorcist: Believer," helmed by David Gordon Green, received a lukewarm and divisive reception. However, last month, the filmmakers announced a seismic shift, handing the reins of the franchise to the masterful Flanagan.
Flanagan, whose illustrious credits include "The Haunting of Hill House," "Midnight Mass," "Gerald's Game," "Doctor Sleep," and the recently released "The Fall of the House of Usher," has crafted an entirely novel narrative nightmare that stands apart from any previous "Exorcist" installment.
