Ezra Miller has hinted at a potential comeback to Hollywood's glittering limelight, after being enveloped in a swirl of controversial allegations in 2022. Speaking to Italian publication Lo Speciale Giornale at the prestigious Filming Italy Sardegna Festival 2025, Miller revealed the possibility of a "tentative" re-entrance into the film industry. During the interview, which was uploaded to Lo Speciale Giornale's YouTube channel, Miller disclosed that they were collaborating once again with director Lynne Ramsay, following their support for her film Die My Love at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

"I journeyed to Cannes to lend my support to one of my dearest friends in the entire world, Lynne Ramsay, whom I regard as one of the foremost filmmakers alive today. Our collaboration, which will likely mark my first project upon return, is a film we are co-writing," Miller shared in the video interview. Their previous work together includes Ramsay's 2011 film, We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Miller admitted that accepting Ramsay's invitation to Cannes was a daunting task, akin to diving headfirst into a shark tank. "I wasn't particularly eager to attend Cannes. It's a formidable hurdle to leap, especially after being in seclusion for three years. If you've been away from the limelight for that long, I caution against diving straight into the maelstrom of Cannes, where every paparazzo, eccentric, and affluent eccentric with a penchant for genocide converges. It's not an easy transition back," they confessed.

Nonetheless, Miller expressed their willingness to place their hopes for a Hollywood comeback in Ramsay's hands, grounded in a profound trust. "My faith in her transcends all else," they asserted with conviction. "Having navigated those trying times together, if we could emerge unscathed—which once hung in the balance for me—then we possess the capacity to see others' struggles and lend a helping hand."

Miller's contemplated return to filmmaking comes on the heels of a series of controversial incidents spanning from 2020 to 2022, which included several arrests and culminated in a heartfelt apology addressing "complex mental health issues" and the pursuit of treatment.

Reflecting on their personal struggles and the support they found during those challenging times, Miller said, "When you navigate this industry, you'll encounter countless individuals who hold not an ounce of concern for your well-being. I harbor immense regret and sorrow for my actions and the events that transpired during that tumultuous period, but I'm profoundly grateful for the invaluable lessons forged in the depths of despair."

At the same time, Miller expressed artistic nonchalance, stating, "I bear no regrets. Perhaps the reason for my lack of remorse stems from my lack of reflection. For me, the magic resides in the creative process. The judgment of my work belongs to others. It's not my responsibility to assess whether an expression I've been part of is good or bad, or how it stacks up against others. That's not my role."
