Pixar has unveiled its second full-length trailer for the enthralling sci-fi adventure comedy, 'Elio,' set to grace our theaters this summer. Slated for a global release later in June, we've previously showcased another official trailer, and today, we present this exclusive featurette. Although postponed from last year, are we all eagerly anticipating its arrival?
Meet Elio, an eleven-year-old space enthusiast with a vivid imagination and an insatiable fascination with aliens, embarked on an epic journey when he's transported to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization comprising representatives from distant galaxies. Mistakenly labeled as Earth's leader, Elio must forge alliances with myriad eccentric alien species, navigate an intergalactic crisis of monumental proportions, and ultimately uncover his true destiny and identity.
The voices behind this cinematic marvel include Yonas Kibreab as Elio, Zoe Saldaña as Aunt Olga, Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa, and Shirley Henderson as OOOOO. My instincts tell me this is destined to be a triumph! It's the sci-fi narrative I crave, centered around a space dreamer. "What if what you were seeking... sought you first?"
Eleven-year-old dreamer Elio, voiced by Yonas Kibreab, is an artistic and imaginative soul, a reclusive indoor enthusiast struggling to find his place. Meanwhile, his mother, Olga, heads a top-secret military project dedicated to deciphering a peculiar alien signal from outer space. Yet, it's Elio who establishes contact, gets whisked away into space, and is erroneously deemed Earth's intergalactic Ambassador in this original animated adventure.
'Elio' is co-directed by animation luminaries Adrian Molina (co-director of Pixar's 'Coco'), Madeline Sharafian (director of the 'Burrow' Sparkshort), and Domee Shi (director of 'Turning Red' and the 'Bao' short). Screenplay credits are still pending finalization. Produced by Mary Alice Drumm, this masterpiece hails from Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA. Disney will introduce 'Elio' to theaters nationwide on June 20th, 2025, promising an unforgettable summer cinematic experience.
