"Why did you stay my friend, why are you still here?" Apple TV has unveiled the first official trailer for Outcome, a dark comedy film directed and co-written by Jonah Hill. It seems like a personal narrative from Hill, an attempt to atone for his past and problems through a movie about a character who, while not himself, is a reflection of him.
Keanu Reeves stars as Reef Hawk, a famous Hollywood actor forced to confront his demons and past after being threatened by bizarre video footage. The trailer hints at the video's contents and the apologies Reef must make, but doesn't reveal specifics.
The film also stars Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer as Reef's lifelong friends, Jonah Hill as his peculiar lawyer, and a star-studded cast including David Spade, Kaia Gerber, Roy Wood Jr., Laverne Cox, Drew Barrymore, and Martin Scorsese! The trailer is filled with intriguing wide-angle, over-saturated shots that give it a strange vibe. Keanu looks great (as always), but his character seems out of place with the rest of the tone.
Regardless, it's worth a watch to see what Jonah Hill has been cooking up. Outcome is a dark comedy centered on Reef Hawk (Keanu Reeves), a beloved Hollywood star who must delve into his hidden demons after being extorted with a mysterious video that threatens to shatter his image and end his career. With the support of his lifelong besties Kyle (Cameron Diaz) and Xander (Matt Bomer), along with his crisis lawyer Ira (Jonah Hill), Reef embarks on a soul-searching journey to make amends with anyone he could have wronged in hopes of identifying the blackmailer.
Co-writer and director Hill brings a unique lens to Reef's wild but spiritually cleansing, nostalgic, and eye-opening trip down memory lane.
