Bunnie Xo isn't exactly thrilled with her immediate appearance after her facelift. The author of "Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic" (real name Alisa DeFord) has lifted the veil on her latest cosmetic surgery procedure, sharing just how much her face has swollen during her recovery. Accompanying a March 1 15 Instagram video of herself before and after the procedure, Bunnie—who has been married to Jelly Roll since 2016—jokes in the caption, "I look like Bert Kreischer."
The footage shows the 46-year-old at the hospital with surgical markings on her forehead, cheeks, and chin, before cutting to her recuperating in bed with bandages wrapped around her head. "I was asleep when the Bert bus happened," Bunnie clarifies in the comments. "I wasn't trying to mock my friend's sadness. I meant it because I'm red and my eyes are swollen."
However, the swelling was a side effect that Bunnie expected. After all, she previously warned fans that she would "look crazy" after her facelift. "I'm going to be so bruised," she teased on the March 13 episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. "It's going to be a little weird. Don't freak out."
As for why Bunnie decided to go under the knife? Her plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel J. Gould, explains in a March 16 Instagram video, "She wanted to improve that little bit of heaviness and laxity in the neck, slightly improve the position of the cheek, add a little bit of volume back where she's lost it before, clean up a little bit of the skin in the upper eyelids, and address the temples and the mid-face."
Despite some bruising on her face after the surgery, he notes that Bunnie is "healing nicely." "She's a really sweet, super kind, and thoughtful patient," adds the physician. "I'm thankful that she's allowing me to share all this."
