The ominous clouds loom heavy...over us, my friends! Warner Bros. & DC Studios have just unveiled the teaser trailer for the upcoming Supergirl movie, a bold sequel to James Gunn's iconic Superman film this year. Craig Gillespie, the mastermind behind I, Tonya and Cruella, takes the helm as director, and we're set to witness this intergalactic spectacle in June 2026.

While specific plot details are scarce, here's a sneak peek: When an unforeseen and relentless foe strikes at home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly teams up with an unlikely ally on a journey of vengeance and justice across the cosmos. As Kara Zor-El celebrates her 21st birthday, she embarks on a galactic adventure with her loyal companion Krypto. Along the way, she meets the young Ruthye Marye Knoll and encounters a tragedy that sets her on a 'murderous quest for revenge.'

Milly Alcock steps into the shoes of Kara Zor-El, while Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa as Lobo (oh hello, Lobo!) round out the star-studded cast. This looks more like a James Gunn-inspired Guardians of the Galaxy than the previous Superman film – but it also promises to be an intergalactic riot of fun! 'Watch out!' Supergirl, DC Studios' latest cinematic offering, will hit the big screen worldwide this summer via Warner Bros. Pictures.

With Milly Alcock as the dual-role of Supergirl/Kara Zor-El, this epic interstellar journey of vengeance and justice is directed by Australian filmmaker Craig Gillespie, who brings his talent from Mr. Woodcock, Lars and the Real Girl, Fright Night, Million Dollar Arm, The Finest Hours, I Tonya, Cruella, and Dumb Money to this project. The screenplay is penned by Ana Nogueira and is based on the DC character created by Otto Binder & Al Plastino; inspired by a comic by Tom King. It's produced by Peter Safran & James Gunn. Warner Bros. & DC Studios will debut Gillespie's Supergirl in theaters starting June 26th, 2026.
