Gravitas has unveiled the official trailer for an indie gem titled 'Marcie's,' a nod to the protagonist's aspiration to helm her very own watering hole, Marcie's Tavern. Slated for its premiere in early April, the film will swiftly follow on Video On Demand (VOD) thereafter. Marcie harbors a dream: to become the proprietor of Ed's Tavern, where she serves drinks and nurtures a loyal small-town community akin to a den mother. However, her dreams are derailed when a developer casts his eyes on Ed's wooded property. As she mobilizes her fellow townsfolk, Marcie discovers that an endangered bird could be the pivotal factor in preventing the tavern's demise and salvaging her community. Lensed in North Bend and Seattle, this quirky dramedy from director John Helde boasts an entirely Washington state-based cast and crew. Starring Jenn Ruzumna, Miski Farah Ali, Reginald André Jackson, Ryan Sanders, Aaron Blakely, and Alycia Delmore, it exudes authenticity and warmth, portraying a delightful tale centered around a bar.
Marcie Wood (played by Jenn Ruzumna) stands on the cusp of realizing her dream: in a matter of months, she will own Ed's Tavern, where she not only tends bar but also serves as a pillar of support for a close-knit group of regulars. With just a handful of payments remaining, she envisions not just running the local tavern but also embarking on a family journey with her partner, Murph. 'Marcie's' is penned and helmed by American indie filmmaker John Helde, who has previously directed 'Made in China,' 'Phoebe's Father,' 'Brown's Canyon,' among other short films. Produced by Beth Farnham and John Helde, the film will make its debut at the Northwest Film Forum in Seattle this April.
