Prime Video has unveiled an enticing official trailer for the new small-town thriller titled 'Holland,' the latest creation from the talented filmmaker Mimi Cave. This marks her second feature film endeavor, following the acclaimed 'Fresh,' which was one of my highlights from Sundance 2022. Set to premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival in March, it will also be available for streaming at the end of the same month.
Nancy's seemingly idyllic life in the charming town of Holland, Michigan, shatters when she and a friend uncover a deeply disturbing secret lurking within their midst. It appears to be a clandestine conspiracy involving murder and cover-ups—a narrative as old as time itself, yet no less captivating. Nicole Kidman stars as Nancy, joined by Matthew Macfadyen, Jude Hill, Gael García Bernal, Jeff Pope, and Isaac Krasner. Though I wish the preview painted a more promising picture, it unfortunately seems destined to fade into the obscurity of forgettable streaming crime thrillers post-release. Will Nancy emerge victorious, saving her town from its dark secrets?
In this breathtakingly unpredictable thriller, Nicole Kidman portrays Nancy Vandergroot, a meticulous teacher and homemaker whose seemingly perfect life with her esteemed community leader husband (Matthew Macfadyen) and son (Jude Hill) in tulip-adorned Holland, Michigan, descends into a labyrinthine tale of deceit.
