Variety is unveiling the breathtaking trailer for Ivana Gloria's poignant feature debut, "Chlorophyll" (Clorofilla). Set to make its international debut on Wednesday, the film will grace the screens of the Proxima Competition at the esteemed Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

The story begins with a youthful Maia, sprinting through the moonlit forest undergrowth, her heartbeat in harmony with the pulse of nature. The night air hangs heavy with anticipation as she seeks solace in the arms of the wilderness. As she matures into a woman, Maia finds an indescribable pull towards the trees, flowers, and the essence of the natural world itself.

Teo, a timid young man harboring secrets within his greenhouse, becomes Maia's unlikely companion. Together, they embark on a journey of transformation, from being mere mortals to becoming one with nature itself. This profound understanding is forged through the bonds of friendship, mutual attraction, and a love that transcends the boundaries of flesh and foliage.

Written by Marco Borromei, the film stars Sarah Short and Michele Ragno, captivatingly lensed by Giuseppe Chessa. Gloria, alongside her producer Cinzia Salvioli, and the film's stars Short and Ragno, will grace the Karlovy Vary premiere.

Gloria, a Rome-based filmmaker, cinematographer, animator, and storyboard artist, has already made waves with her 2022 short "Con il piede giusto," which garnered numerous accolades, including recognition at the 48 Hour Film Project in Film Palooza, Los Angeles.

Cinzia Salvioli, the film's lead producer and the founder of Albedo Production, an independent production company dedicated to creating captivating, author-driven works for both Italian and global audiences, has set the bar high with this project. Albedo Production's inaugural venture was a film adaptation of Giacomo Puccini's opera "Gianni Schicchi," which premiered at the 2021 Torino Film Festival and later aired on Rai Uno, further solidifying their commitment to bringing compelling stories to life.
