Making its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at this year's Cannes Film Festival, the film weaves a tale of an Olympic swimmer once brimming with hope, who finds herself grappling with the loss of her scholarship, addiction, and the discovery of her sexual identity and love for literature. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Stewart's directorial prowess "appears to have unearthed her unique voice, announcing her serious intentions not through pretentious auteurism but through an unwavering dedication to honoring her subject's narrative."

Leading the ensemble cast as Yuknavitch, Imogen Poots shines brightly, accompanied on screen by an array of talents including Jim Belushi, Thora Birch, Charlie Carrick, Susannah Flood, Kim Gordon, and Tom Sturridge. WME Independent brokered the deal on behalf of the filmmakers, while Les Films du Losange is responsible for managing international sales and French distribution.

In a heartfelt statement, Stewart expressed, "After an arduous eight-year journey of conception and nurturing, I am deeply honored and overwhelmed to see 'The Chronology of Water' grace the silver screen, backed by the unwavering support and shared ambitions of like-minded artists at The Forge. Films such as ours deserve a cinematic birth, and I am incredibly grateful to have found a team as fiercely dedicated to championing independent filmmakers as they are to us."
