Jennifer Lawrence to Receive San Sebastian Film Festival’s Donostia Award

Jennifer Lawrence has been honored as this year's recipient of the prestigious Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival. The Oscar-winning actress will be feted at a glittering gala ceremony on Friday, September 26th, at the Kursaal Auditorium, where her latest cinematic endeavor, "Die My Love," directed by Lynne Ramsay and premiered at Cannes, will also be screened.

Lawrence has left an indelible mark on the silver screen with her stellar performances in acclaimed films such as "Silver Linings Playbook," which garnered her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2012, as well as "American Hustle," "Don't Look Up," "Joy," and the iconic "The Hunger Games" trilogy. In 2018, she ventured behind the camera, co-founding the production company Excellent Cadaver alongside her producing partner Justine Ciarrocchi. Together, they have curated an impressive slate of critically acclaimed projects, encompassing "Causeway," "No Hard Feelings," and the documentaries "Zurawski v. Texas" and "Bread & Roses."

"Die My Love," which also boasts a star-studded cast including Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek, will make its Spanish debut at the Donostia Award Screening during the festival. The film joins an esteemed lineup that includes Saoirse Ronan's "Bad Apples," Tessa Thompson's "Hedda," and Angelina Jolie's "Couture." Among the latest additions to the San Sebastian Film Festival's slate are Edward Berger's "Ballad of a Small Player," starring Colin Farrell, and Juliette Binoche's directorial debut.

Previous recipients of the esteemed Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival include luminaries such as Cate Blanchett, Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, Pedro Almodóvar, David Cronenberg, and Ethan Hawke, further testament to Lawrence's illustrious place among the cinematic elite.
