In a thrilling collaboration with Studiocanal's new genre label, Sixth Dimension, Academy Award winner Melissa Leo is poised to strike a pose in Sean Byrne's The Mannequin. The production, a "serial killer procedural" described as "an original, violent, and high-stakes thriller," is set to begin this summer under the direction of Byrne, who penned the script himself.
Renowned for his work on The Devil's Candy, starring Ethan Embry, and Dangerous Animals, featuring Jai Courtney, Byrne brings his genre-defining talents to the big screen once again. The film is being launched worldwide by Studiocanal this week at Cannes, with a theatrical release planned in territories including the U.K., France, Germany, Benelux, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand. Elevation Pictures will release it in Canada.

The Mannequin is produced by William Woods and Maddy Falle of Page 12 Pictures Inc., alongside Kristian Moliere of Triptych Pictures. Executive producers include Steven Schneider, Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Charlie Kemball, and Jed Benedict for Studiocanal's Sixth Dimension. Head Gear Films packaged the project with Schneider's Room 101.
"After navigating the blood-soaked waters of Dangerous Animals together, I'm thrilled to be collaborating with my friends at Studiocanal's Sixth Dimension," Byrne said in a statement. "I can't wait for audiences to experience The Mannequin on the big screen. This is a thrillingly deranged beast—twisted, intense, propulsive, and anchored by a fearless performance from Melissa Leo. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you breathless."
Jed Benedict, head of the genre division at Studiocanal, added: "There's a reason nostalgia exists for the best serial killer movies of the noughties—they're brilliantly scary and tense, meticulously written. With The Mannequin, Sean Byrne has gifted us two unforgettable characters in Charley and Sadie and then thrown them into a fast-escalating nightmare. With Melissa Leo starring and a stellar creative team, we at Sixth Dimension can't wait for audiences to discover Sean's terrifying manhunt thriller."
Studiocanal's Sixth Dimension is a genre label dedicated to "high-concept storytelling across horror, thriller, action, and sci-fi," providing creators with a new dimension to surprise, shock, and entertain audiences.
Byrne is represented by the Fleming Agency, Innovative Artists Entertainment, Echo Lake Entertainment, and Paul Hastings. Leo, who won an Oscar for her work in David O. Russell's The Fighter opposite Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams, has also starred in Frozen River, Prisoners, Conviction, I Know This Much is True, and The Equalizer franchise. She is represented by Gersh.
