On Monday, Disney unveiled a fresh trailer for its eagerly anticipated live-action adaptation of Moana. The film boasts an all-star cast, with Catherine Laga'aia stepping into the lead role as the adventurous Moana and Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as the mischievous demigod Maui from the animated masterpiece.

For fans of the original, the trailer is a nostalgic journey, showcasing beloved scenes from Moana's bond with Maui to the crab's obsession with shiny objects and the majestic lava and fire creature Te Kā. The trailer also features some of the cherished songs, including "I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors)." Notably, Johnson sports a full head of flowing locks, fitting perfectly with his character's iconic image.
The cast is a who's who of talent, including John Tui as Moana's father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams as Moana's mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Moana's Gramma Tala. Disney describes the film as a "reimagining" of the Oscar-nominated movie. The live-action version is directed by Thomas Kail (Hamilton), with Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda serving as producers. Kail is also an executive producer alongside Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, and Auli'i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in both the original and its sequel.
The film features original songs by Miranda, Opetaia Foa'i, and Mark Mancina, along with an original score composed by Mancina. It promises to be a visual and auditory treat for audiences when it hits theaters on July 10.
