Rodman Flender's cult 1990s horror-comedy, "Idle Hands," is set for a dynamic remake, with Finn Wolfhard of "Stranger Things" fame attached to pen the screenplay and potentially co-direct this thrilling revisit! According to Variety, Wolfhard, alongside his "Hell of a Summer" collaborator Billy Bryk, will be co-writing the movie, and there's a strong possibility that this talented duo might also take the helm as directors. Wolfhard recently made his directorial debut with the eagerly anticipated slasher film "Hell of a Summer," slated for release in 2025.
Jason Reitman, the mind behind "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," will produce the Sony Pictures remake of "Idle Hands." Joining him are producers Jennifer Todd and Suzanne Todd under their Team Todd banner, alongside Gil Keenan. Maia Eyre is overseeing the project for Sony.
In the original "Idle Hands," Anton Tobias (played memorably by Devon Sawa) is a laid-back couch potato, indulging in channel-surfing and junk food, who finds himself unable to reign in the murderous urges of his recently possessed hand. With the aid of his zombie friends (including Seth Green) and Pnub (Elden Henson), Anton embarks on a quest to thwart the demonic appendage's rampage before it completely takes over his life and dashes any hopes he harbors with the gorgeous classmate Molly (Jessica Alba).
Variety reports that Wolfhard and Bryk are "passionate about breathing fresh air into this teen movie while ensuring it remains true to its target audience." Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
