Currently in post-production after being filmed in Ireland, "Hokum" follows reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) as he seeks solitude in a secluded Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes. However, he soon finds his mind consumed by the staff's eerie tales of an ancient witch that allegedly haunts the honeymoon suite. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance plunge him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest recesses of his past.

Scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release through Neon in 2026, the film will also have its international rights shopped by Neon International to potential buyers at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. Cweature Features joins Image Nation, Spooky Pictures, and Team Thrives as co-financiers and producers on the project.

"Hokum" marks McCarthy's sophomore feature following his debut, "Oddity," which premiered at SXSW and garnered the Audience Award in the Midnighter section. The film is produced by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Derek Dauchy, Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtín de Barra. Executive producers include Ken Kao, Josh Rosenbaum, Ben Ross, Dan Kagan, Rami Yasin, Andrew Childs, Bryan Meng, and Dr. Terence Chan.

The distribution deal was expertly negotiated by Jason Wald on behalf of Neon, Josh Rosenbaum for Cweature Features, and Ben Ross for Image Nation.
