Neon has secured the North American distribution rights to Chloe Okuno's chilling horror film, "Brides," starring Maika Monroe and slated to commence production in March 2025. This venture marks the hat-trick collaboration between Neon and Monroe, following their successful partnership on Osgood Perkins' "Longlegs" and the upcoming sequel to David Robert Mitchell's acclaimed "It Follows," titled "They Follow." Pre-production for "Brides" is in full swing, with Neon aiming for a theatrical release that promises to captivate audiences.

"Longlegs," which grossed an impressive $75 million at the box office, emerged as the year's highest-grossing indie film and a pinnacle moment for Neon, the Oscar-winning specialty production and distribution house also renowned for "Parasite." In "Longlegs," Nicholas Cage delivered a transformative performance as an elusive serial killer hunted by FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe), a role so mesmerizing it was almost unrecognizable as the actor himself.

Produced by Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu under the Likely Story banner, "Brides" boasts an original screenplay penned by Okuno. The narrative follows Sally Bishop (Monroe) as she and her husband journey to an isolated Italian villa, where the enigmatic count, the villa's owner, takes a strangely intense interest in Sally.

Negotiations for "Brides" were adeptly handled by Jeff Deutchman and Jason Wald on behalf of Neon. FilmNation Entertainment kicked off international sales at the AFM in Las Vegas last month, while UTA Independent Film Group is overseeing both global and domestic rights.

Elsewhere in the cinematic landscape, Osgood Perkins is set to reunite with Neon, C2, and Black Bear for his next endeavor, an adaptation of Stephen King's "The Monkey," starring Theo James and slated for release in February 2025.
