Grimes Pleads with Elon Musk on X to Stop Ignoring Her About Their Child's 'Medical Crisis'

Elon Musk's ex-partner, Grimes, has issued an urgent plea for him to address a "medical crisis" affecting their child. On Thursday, February 20th, the 36-year-old singer-songwriter took to Twitter, releasing a series of since-deleted tweets that quickly went viral. She began by imploring Musk, 53, to "Please respond regarding our child's medical emergency."

She continued, her frustration evident, "I apologize for bringing this into the public domain, but ignoring this situation is no longer an option. Immediate attention is required." Grimes refrained from disclosing the specifics of the medical crisis.

Their romance blossomed in May 2018, with the couple experiencing an on-again, off-again relationship until they definitively parted ways in 2022. Together, they share three children: X Æ A-Xii, aged 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Techno Mechanicus, 2. It remains unclear which of their offspring Grimes was referencing in her tweets to Musk.

"If you prefer not to communicate with me directly, could you please designate or hire someone who can, so we can promptly address this issue? This is urgent, Elon," Grimes tweeted on the same day.

When a Twitter user suggested that going public might not help the situation, Grimes responded passionately, "I'm not sharing details, but he ignores my texts, calls, and emails. He's skipped every meeting, and our child faces lifelong impairment if he doesn't respond promptly. So, I need him to bloody well respond, and if I have to exert public pressure, then so be it."

Grimes laughed off a fan's claim that she had been "shadow banned" on Twitter, implying her posts were restricted and less visible. A screenshot shared by the fan displayed Grimes' tweet visible on one side but seemingly removed on the other.

In response to a query about whether she had consulted a pediatrician and sought a second opinion, Grimes confirmed, "Yes."

As of this writing, Musk has not publicly acknowledged Grimes' pleas. A source close to the situation told PEOPLE, "Instead of being an active presence in his children's lives, he'd rather tweet memes."

This isn't the first instance where Grimes has publicly called out Musk on Twitter, the social media platform he owns. Earlier this month, she expressed dissatisfaction with Musk bringing X Æ A-Xii to the Oval Office, revealing she learned about the visit from a random Twitter user. "He shouldn't be in public like this," she tweeted. "I didn't know about this, thank you for informing me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh."

Moreover, Grimes' tweets come roughly a week after author Ashley St. Clair announced that she had welcomed Musk's 13th child five months prior.
