The beloved "Rush Hour" franchise has long been teasing its fans with the promise of a fourth installment. Now, an influential figure has lent his weight to the cause. According to recent reports, U.S. President Donald Trump has personally urged David Ellison, the son of Paramount's CEO Larry Ellison, to give the green light to the film's production.

It's worth noting that the rights to the franchise reside with New Line Cinema, which is now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The Ellison family is reportedly in the process of bidding to acquire this media company, adding a layer of intrigue to the situation.

In addition to this Semafor report, another in World of Reel claims that President Trump also wants Brett Ratner to direct "Rush Hour 4." He has directed all previous films in the franchise, but his name was tarnished during the #MeToo movement due to sexual misconduct allegations. Ratner has denied the accusations against him.

But what made Trump so keen on Ratner for the fourth instalment? The report suggests it's because of his past favoritism towards the director. He has previously helmed a documentary on Melania Trump and the 2011 film "Tower Heist" at Trump Tower.

Meanwhile, the last film in the "Rush Hour" franchise was released in 2007, starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a new chapter in this action-comedy series, and it seems that their prayers may finally be answered with the backing of the U.S. president himself.
